I paid for Julian on the 19th via EFT. I thought I put his name on the payment but I might have put mine. Below is a copy of my statement:

Oops. Sorry about the 5 bux. I'll do it asap. Wasn't it 80 last year? Or is that the license.

Yeah it has been $80 for a fair while, however due to DECA increasing its hire cost by over 20% plus

the extra cost of running the event (mainly hire of Water Barriers due to new regulations) we have

had to increase the day.

The club has absorbed the majority of these costs and has only increased the price by 6.25%

Honestly DECA is already so cheap and that popular that you could increase the price by more. People would still pay it. I'm not saying this to make a profit or anything, but if the club needs those funds elsewhere it's something to consider.

Hell, I spend 3x what DECA costs going out afterwards and paying for the hotel!

Boys and girls listen up... Are you listenening..

I've seen a few of the vids from the last few rounds and I'd like to see you some of you step it up apart from the top guys who are driving awesome. Top work boys! Just go big and when you think your there go even bigger. Massive power slides not power skids with a spin (lame) and huge handbrake turns and compression lock ups not sensible driving Miss Daisy style. Ramp it up. Action, Action, Action! But save it for the skid pan if you can't drive in control!

And the night life. People give me some stories! I want to hear some feedback. Back like the old days. Ohh the old days! I want people spewing like the guy from Sydney (he was the weakest one that night and probably ever. He was also missing the Mexican gene so a little understandable). Plus all the nudy runs and people dancing with stripper poles for hours and riding cows and swimming in the lake etc.

Plus remember..

Never under estimate the power of the RB20. Never question it and never speak of it because its true power is so powerful and so secret that it will never ever be seen and only heard...

zip it kieren. i can't afford squat these days and i'm selling off my valuble's to pay my bills. n considering only $44 from each entry go's to track hire (excluding insurance etc), i think you should zip it again.

why should a member or guest entrant pay for other stuff ? surely deca monies should only be spent on deca stuff, with whatever few $ left over to top up the SAU kitty. n speaking of sau monies i appreciate the club and it's member input into organiseing the event every time.

gettting vidz and photo's occasionally are a nice bonus

don't think i can come out after deca this time. i'll have to see how my ebay sales go.

I could probably rival that "weakest one ever". I don't remember much of my first DECA after we got to Tacos, but apparently everyone remembered me when I turned up for my second.

I think you've misunderstood me. All I was saying is entrants should pay more only IF its all going towards DECA fees. PurpleR32 said that the club absorbed most of the additional costs which I understood as meaning that SAU-Vic was covering some of the cost of everyone's entry fee so that it didn't increase by much.

Thats how to do it. Glad to hear you've been holding the flag high. I was only giving Sunshine a bit of a dig with the weak comment. Was hoping he'd bite.

Might have to scab a lift off you if you have a free seat closer to the date if its ok?

You're more than welcome to come along if you don't mind sitting in the back seat of a Supra!

HAHA. Rowdy will be available all day if you need someone to psych you up before your run.

On a more serious note, we need people to start thinking about bringing along some volunteers who can help out on the day. Last Deca was a struggle and as a result we will be organising volunteers at the start of drivers briefing as apposed to after. Basically, if we cannot get people, the day will not start. Martin or I will start a Volunteers thread in the next day or so with all the jobs we need to fill for the day to go ahead. These jobs are by no means hard and are usually more fun than just watching. These jobs basically include Timing, Flagging and Hat Removal. The day is split in half, of which we need the majority of volunteers in the morning. (approx 10) The second half of the day does not require as many volunteers. (6 people).

Also, there is noone on the reserve list so if your keen to enter there is a very good chance you will be in!

Entry list updated.

Ryan

f**k mate, if things are that tight dont participate.

Theres always next deca.

Its not like your gonna upset anyone by not entering.

Haha at least you remember getting to Tacos. The last time I was there I didnt really remember much after the bottle of jages at the pool!

Gareth im pretty g'd youre coming, this DECA is going to be absolutely insane! So many of the old boys heading up! and many bdays to celebrate too!

Cant wait!

+1 if you cant afford to come to DECA sell the 5+ silvias you have.

...oh wait that would barely equate to a DECA entry fee...

Some events make profit, some events actually run at a loss. That is the life of a financial club/organisation that isn't hell bent on world domination.

It's a job for club management (ie, myself & the team) to decide how and where money comes in and goes out in the best interests of the club and its members.

Afterall, that is one of the reasons why we are voted in.

@ $44 ? You might wanna be careful about quoting figures and ensure you are correct, as i can assure you that you are very wrong.

It's more than that per entry just to HIRE the facility for 50 cars. Its approx $60.

Add to that there is:

- Insurance & overall club affiliation fees (when spread over a year)

- Radio hire

- Printing

- Water barriers

- Volunteer Lunches

- Ongoing costs/overheads like witches hats, vests, stopwatches and so on just to name a few.

And that is without even asking the MSport Committee, that is just off the top of my head.

Your financial issues are not our issues.

yeh misunderstood kieren, but the words you said were re price increase and that's what i read and responded.

i don't have 5 silvia's i can't fit all the details or any details of 5 of my cars in the space listed. so "silvia + 5 more" is what fitted. n thanks for pointing the obvious, but if you READ my signature you would realise i have been selling my cars and bikes :D

i contacted shepparton DECA by phone (i think it was 2008 or early 2009) and was told hire was $2200, at a point i was interested in facility hire. Which is what i was equating the $44 on. I did say a few more words too after that. i didn't say it costed to much and needed to be reduced so don't flame me in a attempt to what.... make me more unpopular, i already know people don't like me. i don't have a fanclub, or followers within the club and don't care, i come to events, meetings, and SAU days because i enjoy all thing's cars.

thanks. d.

I hardly flamed you. Relax.

I simply pointed out that your figure of $44 in pure entrant cost was wrong. DECA costs a quite a bit more than $2200 to hire.

So while i was at it, i also took the chance to give a bit of an insight as to the $5 increase yourself and anyone else that might have been wondering.

Trust me when i say pricing decisions are not made lightly. There are many factors taken into account to keep SAU-Vic the best value for money.

Our events are always priced with this in mind.

    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
    • See if you can thermal epoxy a heatsink or two onto it?
    • The other problem was one of those "oh shit we are going to die moments". Basically the high spec Q50s have a full electric steering rack, and the povo ones had a regular hydraulic rack with an electric pump.  So couple of laps into session 5 as I came into turn 2 (big run off now, happily), the dash turned into a christmas tree and the steering became super heavy and I went well off. I assumed it was a tyre failure so limped to the pits, but everything was OK. But....the master warning light was still on so I checked the DTCs and saw – C13E6 “Heat Protection”. Yes, that bloody steering rack computer sitting where the oil cooler should be has its own sensors and error logic, and decided I was using the steering wheel too much. I really appreciated the helpful information in the manual (my bold) POSSIBLE CAUSE • Continuing the overloading steering (Sports driving in the circuit etc,) “DATA MONITOR” >> “C/M TEMPERATURE”. The rise of steering force motor internal temperature caused the protection function to operate. This is not a system malfunction. INSPECTION END So, basically the electric motor in the steering rack got to 150c, and it decided to shut down without warning for my safety. Didn't feel safe. Short term I'll see if I can duct some air to that motor (the engine bay is sealed pretty tight). Long term, depending on how often this happens, I'll look into swapping the povo spec electric/hydraulic rack in. While the rack should be fine the power supply to the pump will be a pain and might be best to deal with it when I add a PDM.
    • And finally, 2 problems I really need to sort.  Firstly as Matt said the auto trans is not happy as it gets hot - I couldn't log the temps but the gauge showed 90o. On the first day I took it out back in Feb, because the coolant was getting hot I never got to any auto trans issues; but on this day by late session 3 and then really clearly in 4 and 5 as it got hotter it just would not shift up. You can hear the issue really clearly at 12:55 and 16:20 on the vid. So the good news is, literally this week Ecutek finally released tuning for the jatco 7 speed. I'll have a chat to Racebox and see what they can do electrically to keep it cooler and to get the gears, if anything. That will likely take some R&D and can only really happen on track as it never gets even warm with road use. I've also picked up some eye wateringly expensive Redline D6 ATF to try, it had the highest viscosity I could find at 100o so we will see if that helps (just waiting for some oil pan gaskets so I can change it properly). If neither of those work I need to remove the coolant/trans interwarmer and the radiator cooler and go to an external cooler....somewhere.....(goodbye washer reservoir?), and if that fails give up on this mad idea and wait for Nissan to release the manual 400R
    • So, what else.... Power. I don't know what it is making because I haven't done a post tune dyno run yet; I will when I get a chance. It was 240rwkw dead stock. Conclusion from the day....it does not need a single kw more until I sort some other stuff. It comes on so hard that I could hear the twin N1 turbos on the R32 crying, and I just can't use what it has around a tight track with the current setup. Brakes. They are perfect. Hit them hard all day and they never felt like having an issue; you can see in the video we were making ground on much lighter cars on better tyres under brakes. They are standard (red sport) calipers, standard size discs in DBA5000 2 piece, Winmax pads and Motul RBF600 fluid, all from Matty at Racebrakes Sydney. Keeping in mind the car is more powerful than my R32 and weighs 1780, he clearly knows his shit. Suspension. This is one of the first areas I need to change. It has electronically controlled dampers from factory, but everything is just way too soft for track work even on the hardest setting (it is nice when hustling on country roads though). In particular it rolls into oversteer mid corner and pitches too much under hard braking so it becomes unstable eg in the turn 1 kink I need to brake early, turn through the kink then brake again so I don't pirouette like an AE86. I need to get some decent shocks with matched springs and sway bars ASAP, even if it is just a v1 setup until I work out a proper race/rally setup later. Tyres. I am running Yoko A052 in 235/45/18 all round, because that was what I could get in approximately the right height on wheels I had in the shed (Rays/Nismo 18x8 off the old Leaf actually!). As track tyres they are pretty poor; I note GTSBoy recently posted a porker comparo video including them where they were about the same as AD09.....that is nothing like a top line track tyre. I'll start getting that sorted but realistically I should get proper sized wheels first (likely 9.5 +38 front and 11 +55 at the rear, so a custom order, and I can't rotate them like the R32), then work out what the best tyre option is. BTW on that, Targa Tas had gone to road tyres instead of semi slicks now so that is a whole other world of choices to sort. Diff. This is the other thing that urgently needs to be addressed. It left massive 1s out of the fish hook all day, even when I was trying not too (you can also hear it reving on the video, and see the RPM rising too fast compared to speed in the data). It has an open diff that Infiniti optimistically called a B-LSD for "Brake Limited Slip Diff". It does good straight line standing start 11s but it is woeful on the track. Nismo seem to make a 2 way for it.
