Hello well my friend owns a 200sx s15, and anyway he went around a corner too fast and overcorrected, ended up swerving onto wrong side of the road and hitting into a gutter ( he said he hit it front on), he said the skid marks were around 15 metres long. he doesnt know how fast he was going but he ended up with only his front wheels over the gutter.

I went into his car with him yesterday for a drive and it seems to be runnign fine, aside from a slight squeel coming from the righthand side at the front. steering is also making the car go towards the left more than normal

he said wen he hit the gutter he had almost stoped but who knows. any ideas what damage he has done to the car? my thinking is he just needs a wheel alignment. ccaus wen he hit the wheels are still in tact and not blown up. although maybe he damaged the rims, although i looked at them from the side and both of them looked circular

-look at the rim and tyres for damage

-put the steering wheel straight, compare both wheels, they should both point straight. i suspect the rack end is bent. it ll need replacing (max $150)

-check all other suspension parts, jack the car up and compare either side. if you don't know what to look for, ask a friend who does.

-replace any other bent parts.

-check over front subframe, unlikely to be damaged, be to be sure.

-wheel alignment.

was your friend also watching "sick hektic japanese street drift" you tube videos? lucky he didnt kill anyone.. 15m long skid was obviously going very fast for a corner..

something is broken/bent.. take it to a mechanic and they can inspect it..

hmmm from my diagnosis from the internet judging on what i've read - it definately seems like AFTER he hit the gutter...

the gutter SEEMS to have made something go wrong with the car - noteably the front end

this is evident if the car wasn't making squealing noises before it hit the gutter - but then HIT the gutter... but then AFTER hitting the gutter started squealing and pulling to the left...

if something is wrong.. i suggest you make a thread about that silvia on a skylines forum

or you could fix it i dunno im not an expert.

(take it to a mechanic or suspension centre)

What Eps is trying to say is,

You may have broken your Fritz

Be sure to correct the guy at REPCO that you do not need a Fritz from the Dart range though.

All else failing that,

Buy a new 1.2 JiggaWatt Flux Capacitor

Most of the time the "My friend did this and that" stories are actually things that the OP did and is too embarrassed to admit. ie.-- My friend got a DUI last night after being pulled over going 250kph. What should he do next?... Kill himself.

well i have no idea what you're on about it.

i told him on the phone wat u guys said and he said he rkned he slowed under 20 wen he hit the gutter. and he said the sound coming from the right hand side is like a whistle. anyway i told him to book his car in for a wheel alignment, and he said "mate ahh stuf paying for a wheel alignment itl be fine mate

Edited by La Bomba

you should definitely listen to your mate, he sounds like a smart guy!

potaters gonna potate.

EDIT: sorry to do this but this one's for you, Craig

pic2-e.gif

cremators gonna cremate.

back on to your mate, i was actually being sarcastic when i said he sounds like a smart guy.

he ACTUALLY sounds like a fucken spastic. in real life. you should distance yourself from him. he probably will get you addicted to heroin

20km/h or not. car still weighs a ton and suspension arms are designed to absorb shock from ONE direction only.

any other direction and they'll bend.

i should know - i have a car.

1.5 tonnes of mass, on a concrete 90degree edge (gutter) = bent bits of metal SOMEWHERE.

either way - tell your mate he's right. and he will never need to buy new tyres again.

this is why when you have a car - you need a job

oh and tell him to stop being a top bloke on the roads. srslah.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! EPS!

bahahahha

yeah his a bit of a dumb C*nt

i told him his car is never gona be the same, (not sure if his car wil be the same wen shit gets replaced)

and he goes man il tell wat u wat i do, i crank up the soundsystem loud bro, problem solved

=|.

LOL, luuuv your description! :)

lollllll...well i thort that may be useful info =P

well i ruled out any damage to his rims, stock s15 rims. mainly caus like.....only damage wud be done if they blew up and the aloy had direct contact with the guter, if the tires had of fuly compresed against the rim they wud of blown up so yes. bit of mathematics for u all.

umm as for the whistle noise, i know it wudnt be a control arm, mainly caus control arms creak and dont whistle. it wudnt be the tie rod caus otherwise his wheel wud be pushed bak extremely.

i did put my fingers between the wheel wen i was there. 4 fingers on the right side, and i cud squeeze 4 fingers on the left side, so 3.5 fingers on left side, 4 fingers on right side.

ummmmmm wat else. oh yeah so i dnt think he's done to much damage, perhaps just a wheel bearing like sum guy said above.

if he's done more than that then its only gona get worse if he keeps driivng it.

A er friend of err mine did this to. tell him to strip it and let it sit in his garage for a year or until he gets sick of looking at then sell it and buy a commodore so he do fully sick uleh skids in a straight line and only break back bits not front bits. My err friend also did the finger test. Nedless to say she squeeled. So send it to a mechanic and stop being a tightass

    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
    • Shock tower brace is in +5Kw....LOL
