Okay, so for a while I've loved the Nissan Cube. I know for some of you it'll be a love hate car, but for me it's all love :(

I wanted it from the minute I laid eyes on one on my first trip to Japan. After compliance became available for them last year, I'd been looking on and off. Then I saw some local examples, and I knew I had to have one. I've been looking every day for the last 2 months for one that suits my needs, bid on many auctions, checked out many dealer cars but for a number of reasons the sales fell through.

Then this evening, meet my 2005 Pearl White Nissan Cube Cubic 15M purchased at auction.

1.5L 7-seater and the late model version or series 2 if you like. Absolutely immaculate example with 49,000 legitimate km's on it. Black interior. Grade 4.5 condition with not a single dent and the tiniest little fingernail or less sized marks on both bumpers. No accident history. Absolutely beautiful condition.

A bit of background, the 1.5L shares the same engine and driveline as the Tiida. The 1.4L, the Micra. It's a small car with the most amazing amount of space. It seats 7 adults, and with the rear two rows of seats folded down it fits a Nissan option double matress (no I'm not buying one :)) They also came in 5 seater versions. The Cube is a 5 seater, the Cube Cubic (otherwise known as a Cube3) is a 7 seater. They were the biggest selling small car in Japan with good reason - tonnes of space, quirky looks and character and more factory options than any car in the history of the universe, tiny turning circle and excellent fuel economy.

I have a few plans for her, nothing outrageous. Custom plates were ordered tonight; 'CUBE.3'. She hits our shores in the next couple of months, more pictures then too.

Here's what I intend the car to look like later on:

I spent a bit over my budget to pick up this example so unfortunately it won't happen overnight, but it will happen. The overfenders and stickers are factory, called the 'Neoclassical Aero Package'. They're pretty expensive new from Nissan.

As Big Kev would have said (rest his soul), I'm excited! ;)

Yup, 7 seater, though I plan to have the third row of seats folded down most of the time (they folder flat and the headrests store in side compartments.) With the second and third row of seats folded down the storage capacity is massive. There are storage compartments in the seat cushions as well.

saw one last night @ importers place he said 15K landed (could be base model not sure)

This cost more than that. But this is a S2, 1.5L, almost flawless condition with 49,000km's so it was worth the extra money. Most of the Cubes/Cubics you see currently in Australia are very bottom of the barrel base models tarted up to suck people into buying them. Importing is still the better/cheaper option. Plus importing is more fun :)

Ideally I was looking for one with the Neoclassical Aero Package but there are barely any Cubic's with the kit (mainly Cubes) and I wanted pearl white, which narrowed down my chances to nearly zero. This is a good base to start from :D

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
