If anyone heads through the areas I would like to know if there are cameras there at the times the list indicates or other times for that matter

^^^ "...an internal email chain...shows the RTA staff exchanging site details"... perhaps so they don't book each other??? :D

nothing new, the locations are on the RTA website :(

The chain email I got said "please pass this on to all drivers". Maybe a diligent RTA employee took it literally :P

Yeah, saw a black one on the way home from Sydney on Sunday morning, at the bottom of a dip, around a corner. Was riding the brakes the entire way down the hill anyway, and maybe hit 105 at the very bottom; I bet I get a nice "warning" letter.

Was watching the road because it was a little damp, not my speedo... Oops. Wrong thing to do.

EDIT::

at the bottom of a dip facing both ways actually; gmaps link to follow.

We may aswell forward our bank account details to the government.

Where have you been living? THey have access to all our bank accounts through the ATO, if they wanted to they could theoretically empty all of our bank accounts and turn OZ into a communist state and start a nuclear program. (don't know how easy it can happen in practice)

I think really everyone should stop crying and stop speeding...

I was taught to drive that in a 10 second period you should have checked all three mirrors and your speedo. EVERY 10 seconds... I managed this the whole way back and forth from Canberra the last few weekends I've been (3 hour drive)

When I'm in the city, I also throw into that mix checking my blind spots once every 10 seconds...

Guess what, I've only been caught speeding from being a douche before (And forgetting the road had changed speedlimits... LOL)

You know why? In that 10 second period, if your car accelerates more then 5KM/H... You'll FEEL IT!

SRS, you people are acting like a bunch of toddlers that have just had a lollipop taken off them!

THANK YOU! I like it when people take responsibility for their own actions! Very well said.

Oh I don't deny that it was a loss of concentration that made me go 5km/h faster... I know I should have been watching a bit more. Just sucks as for the placement, at bottom of hills and all.

Ah well! It's done now.

EDIT::

On flat ground, yeah 5km/h feels a lot different, but going down a hill less so. Doesn't make it OK though.

No they're several colours, I've driven past the grey one twice in different spots. (Close to Belmont)

And I'm not going to delve into whats right and wrong too far, but I know for a fact I feel less safe looking at my speedo all the time, than I am simply looking at the road. I don't mean this in an abusive speeding context.

These cameras are set at 3km/h tolerance now?

If so there is a 3hm/h range from where at one end of the spectrum you are a speeding wanker who should be off the road.

On the other end of that 3km/h you are an inconsiderate douche who drives under the limit, and risk one day road rage and/or being rear ended.

I don't like driving anymore.

(You can source that info from the many "I got caught speeding" and "What grinds my gears" threads.)

    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
    • Neg, the top one is actually for the front. The sizes are 18x10.5 +18 and 18x11 +32.   I measured many times but I'm sure I'll have problems as this is the thread for problems.
    • Just one thing; tapping tapered threads is tricky. Taps are always tapered and you would generally run it as far as you can, but with a tapered thread you have to stop much sooner otherwise the wide part of the taper will run in too far and you will have to thread the sensor in too far too as well (possible that it will never make a good seal) BTW nice wide wheels, I guess the top one is for the back!
