I have some cusco coilovers on my stagea and i need to go over the pits,

i borrowed some 260rs suspension for my rs4s,

Now the bolts are too tight for me to undo with a ratchet, and i have no access to a rattle gun or a hoist so i have to use the yellow pages to boost my car up to raise the car.

I have adjusted one side of the car and counted the amount of thread that i used and it looks good on the back left, when i go to do the back right i have almost doubled the ammount of thread and its still sitting lower then the other side.

Any idea's

or anyone in perth got a hoist and a rattle gun i can use,

Ill throw in a carton for you :/

I think hes talking about the lower bolt that actually holds the strut to the bottom of the car? If so correct size socket and a good breaker bar and if that doesnt work.... you need a bigger breaker bar.

yeah, well im pretty dam scared of shearing the bolt which will be totally helpfull, think i might go get a aircompressor and a rattle gun..

using a rattle gun will only strip it faster. like others have said, big breaker and a rubber mallet and it'll come loose.

well managed to undo the bolt with a massive amount of force,

my girlfriend helped me, who knew girls were so good at fetching tools for you hey :P

So stock suspension is in the rear, will do the fronts tonight, replace the blown parking blub in the morning and then go to the pits.

DEFINENTLY taking it to a suspension place to get my coilovers put back in

As others have said - go to Repco and get a 600mm Breaker bar for like $60 or so

think of how much greif this has cost you , easily worth $60 to do it right the 1st time

I have a rattle gun and compressor but me and my breaker bar can get nuts off that the Rattle gun just does SFA to .

( it IS a cheap rattle gun in all fairness but I prefer the control of a breaker bar )

To remove stubborn nuts: soak in CRC, WD40 or other penetrating oil overnight. Then with a hammer whack the flats of the nut as hard as possible without rounding or damaging them. Then use a power bar with a short length of pipe if necesary!

    • I thought it could be an issue because the standard plate was flexing when stressed. Maybe the original gear set will hold a bit better without flex? Last time on the dyno it made around 670nm at the hubs. Now it have bigger turbo and better intake but have not been on a dyno yet. The car is being used from family trips to drag race events. So the shifts can be a little violent. It is grinding if I shift to fast so was thinking I should overhaul it soon.
    • From the factory on RB26s there's a fitting on the intake manifold collector/"plenum" that provides pre-throttle boost signal. That's how they did it back in the day, I figure it's fine to replicate it.
    • I would be surprised if that wasn't the issue. It's probably telling you, that even if you remove the plastic liner, you may have some other clearance issues that may occur too in some scenarios. IE, tyre to guard. It looks like someone has already rolled the lip, but you may still have issues in the future IE, turning and hitting a bump etc. The fact it changes how bad it makes the noise when you are going backward vs forward is highly indicative that it's the tyre rubbing. They do make a terrible sound, even if you're only pushing a project car that has a liner hanging down on a tyre!   Has the car been lowered? If it has been, what is the measurement from the centre of the wheel hub to the lip of the guard straight up?
