Slightly embarrassing update to my post about the Heavy Duty Whiteline links...:blush:

Turns out the orange covers are not a dust cover at all; they're just for protection of the joint & threads in transit...

Red faced all round for me, but they were just so neat...:spank:

As you can see, they came with neat little nylon shields to further protect the ball joint from stones, dirt etc.

I removed the rifling from the centres of the shields with a scalpel, and also cut them down to 10mm so they would fit neatly over the shaft hex, and not press against the ball joint dust shield.

They came with nyloc nuts, which I elected not to use; preferring to stay with the shouldered nuts used on the original links.

This decision was twofold;

1; Using the nylocs precludes the fitting of the dust shields, as you would need to put a spanner on the flats otherwise the shaft will turn as you try to do up the nyloc.

Obviously without these in place, the hex on the threads is easily accessible so the nylocs included can be used.

Details next week about a group buy on these links.

very interested in this GB and hopefully some sway bars when my black POS gets back on the road.

Modified, as in with more solid upper mounts? If so then yes, thats my intention, if people wish to have them.thumbsup.gif

The Links are straight fit no need to cut anything Dale cut the plastic dust covers that were not actually ment to be fitted.

The guys are looking at making a stronger mount and we will leave it to them as there are many guys here with fabricating skills and they can make a few dollars if they want and make them to suite as these will only work on the Stagea so probably not worth us making them at this stage and gives more opportunity for some one else.

We do at times make heavier mounts mainly cars like Subaru but they fit allot of models so we can mass produce them easier. If some one does them in say the stainless described they will be a great long lasting upgrade we are curious to see what ends up made!

We are still at this stage looking for a way to fabricate the front links as they are something we have not seen before and very unsual but do not look like they would work that well so we hope we can arrange something.

AFAIK the Z33 and V35 rear swaybar mounts are the same as ours.

its the front that are unique to our car, and AWD models of the G35. hmm i should check in the states for my mounts

The Link is Z33 & V35 but the Mount is Murano. (go figure) (I am not sure if they are the same as V35 but that is logical.

I have been running the upgraded front sway bar for 2 years on my car now and have not had any problem with the front Link. The most important thing is a solution for the rear Link and Mount and sounds like you guys are all over it.

G'day guyz. I just got myself an ARX 2001 yesterday. Seems like the sway bar upgrade is inevidable, so count me in if it's about sway bars, links & mounts. One question though... From previous posts and comparing stock sway bar from my mate's v35 looks like rear sway bar on my ARX is identical to v35/z350. He ordered his aftermarket one from USA for about 150 incl. delivery. My question is why people buy Selby's rear bars for almost double the price? Sorry if the matter has been discussed befor and I missed it. Cheers.

G'day Skip, Congrats on the purchase mate. The 350z bar is NOT identical. It is 12.5mm narrower each side, or 1 inch narrower overall.

This places an unnecessary side load on the already under strength ball links & upper mounts.

This is the main reason behind paying "twice as much" for a custom made component that fits the car perfectly.

Also, in comparison to a 350z, the wagon carries a significant amount of extra weight up quite high; in the form of glass & steel, and most of the bars available do not allow for that. The Selby rear and my own group buy rear bar is 24mm adj; versus 20-22mm for the 350z style bars. Several suspension specialist consulted during my group buy agreed, and felt that using a smaller rear bar, would comprise the balance of the end result.

I believe Paramour may have his Whiteline bars fitted by now, and it should be very interesting to hear his feedback, as the whiteline kit uses a quite large front bar (32mm) & a small rear.

This may have been done to keep some of the understeer bias of the std car. Set up the right way, my group buy bars will actually four wheel drift controllably and even oversteer under power out of a corner now.

Whiteline did extensive on car data testing to arrive at their numbers, so I'm sure the end result will be great.

Hopefully this answers your questions, and everyones patience with me will be rewarded this week with some group buy information.

Just to let you know the Only U.S sway bars we know of are just like the OE factory bar and are hollow and just pressed flat ends thus why they are cheaper it is just tube steel where as Whitline are Solid spring steel and if you look at the steel price market at the moment you will understand the cost of the raw steel let alone then has to be bent , forge the ends and add the adjustment holes then powdercoated twice as we put an extra layer of corrosion clear for countries that snow and have allot of salt on the roads and makes the powdercoat last allot longer.

and omg best wagon ever

please is there any chance of a list of al parts now available for the stagea , i am looking to do a full suspension upgrade using sway bars and the links in this thread also very keen on Daleos mounts if they ever came to be

also any other info on brake upgrade kits or anything will be appreciated

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways. 
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
