Ok, got this little box with my GTR. Not sure what the hell it actually does, but was told it makes the ATTESSA kick in quicker. The plugs do match up to those on the G sensor, have plugged it in but the AWD like came on so thought i'd better not chance driving it. There's no serial or part numbers on it anywhere, the only thing is 40B on the pcb inside.

i'd guess that it's a primitive torque split controller, but instead of it being adjustable it is just an on/off type setup. so it may allow you to toggle between just rwd or normal awd mode. or it may be that it goes from working normally to having the front drive engaged regardless of the g-sensor reading.

You ever heard of HKS Kansai Service?

hks-kansai-gtrworld-001.jpg

HKS Kansai Service is a workshop in Japan as part of the HKS group.

Kansai is also a region in Japan's main island Honshū... Maybe is where HKS Kansai is based..?

It is most probably your TSC but a very old style one as new ones look totally different and with an extra function(s) as pictured below.

HKS Kansai Service Active ET-S Controller = Active Electronic Torque Split Controller.

Ive got one of these in my gtr , though it dosent have a switch it has a button . what it does is turns the car from AWD to RWD without affecting the ABS like it would when you pull the fuse . I got told to press it while the cars off then switch the car on and the AWD lite should come on (like you said) thats how you now its RWD then turn the car off press the button again turn the car back on and there should be no AWD lite the car is no back to AWD . heres a pic of mine

Thanks yeah does look exactly like mine and after talking it over with a mate he said exactly the same. He also suggested it would be for a 32 GTR instead of a 33 (different G sensor?)

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
    • Not to mention they drive like a bucket of bolts! yuck!
