R32 Gtst Calipers ...

hey guys

ill get to the point !!

got 16=8_4 wheels on the front .but they hit the caliper ..and with a spacer they dont sit on the hub at all ..need to know if i can, mill, grind ,shave about 8 to 10 mm off the caliper it self ???

now will this be safe ?

will tyhe brakes still work fine ? also cannot run a bolt on spacer

furthest you could go is the remove the writing only, there isnt much material between the outside and the inside of the bores

I agree with both of these guys. The calipers twist enough as they are, let alone removing 10-15% of their mass. 8-10mm is a huge amount to shave off.....

Not only is it HIGHLY defectable but just plain silly, There is no meat in calipers.

If you dont care about getting defected go the spacer route. If you want to keep it legal (the right choice) pick new rims with a different offset.

ive just bought some with the grinded off nissan part. so the nissan is all grinded off and flush with the caliper. didnt realise this till i was back home. is this ok still?

yep - just removing the letters wont cause any structural damage

In theory, yes, but if you know what you're doing, you can achieve lots of things. I wouldn't recommend any back yard modificationns, unless you have a sound understanding of metallurgy and engineering. There are plenty of modified brake / suspension parts (heated, welded, machined, ground etc.) that are perfectly safe on road cars, and have been used safely in competition cars, including rally.
