R34 is getting re-tuned tonight! I will post before and after results...........

Just did a similar intake for HEKT1K, should help with his 3071's power, the rubber intake was sucking closed at 250kw also.

I'm keeping Trent busy, should get commissions. lol.

OK, so it turns out the new intake made a significant difference.

Old tune- 260.3Rwkw

414.9Nm

New tune- 291.7Rwkw

492.1Nm

wait are you saying you gained 31rwkw's by using this pipe?? or were there other changes?

Just the pipe, a different pod and tune.

Good result, as I said there was another easy 30kw in the intake but i'm impressed by the nearly 80nm torque gain too. How does it feel now?

Yes battery, the standard intake(with metal forced in to stop it sucking shut) was just to restrictive.

Just the pipe, a different pod and tune.

Its funny you mention the E85, Trent and I were talking about it and will be my next power mods(bigger injectors and pump).

But I will be up for new semis soon and badly need a 2way, so more power will have to wait :P

I am looking forward to seeing how it goes at Winton on Tuesday....

No issues with reversion or anything like that, and should look nice and stealth once i hit it with some matte black paint

EDIT: photos aren't the best, i might put up some more photos when i pull it off to paint it this weekend

bah... if i'd known you did this scotty i'd so have employed your services!! i too found the limits of the rev210 intake mod and got Chasers to fab me up a full metal intake pipe, standard BOV and airbox, couple 45 degree bends... so it was pretty straight... fairly pricey though as apparently it was quite fiddly to get right.

Don't you regulars read this Fabrication forum, Trent mentioned yesterday he didnt know I fabricated. (I dont want to tell too many people. lol)

It is quite hard to get right, the bov piping is a pain and takes longer to fabricate than the suction pipe.

damn... wonder what my car would have made... we ran it on the dyno to check AFR's after putting it in (chasers, not status) and everything was fine, actually said there was still quite a bit in just going of the AFR's. Oh well, something for the new owner to have a nice surprise about.

Generally where there is more airflow, you would need more fuel so the top end should lean out with 30kw more. Good that you checked afr's before selling, most people would have flogged it without bothering with the intake at all I guess.

Did you swap to dino fuel map or leaving it on E85? What are you upgrading to?

Wow scotty by the looks of things, your work is amazing, the pipes come out looking really nice and a 80nm increase from the intake pipe thats crazy dude. Good to hear people are doing awesome fabrications here. im starting to like this section of the forums :)

Thanks but the gain comes from removing the intake restriction, not adding my pipes. :)

I think the lobster bends come out looking great if you can keep them narrow with even angles and width.

The response can be improved by the tuner afterward, allowing him to increase the timing and lean out the fuel coming onto boost, with less restriction in the intake.

APPARENTLY - my suction pipe to the Turbo restricts the total output at 200kw if I was to go ahead and tune the bugger, so before this day comes, me and scott are doing mine too which is apparently a bitch of a job hopefully i can pull much more out of my turbo'd fridge on e85

Scott does good work. reccomend him fabrication for such things like these. instead of getting a dodgy to do em.

i dont understand, why have a larger intake pipe when the intake on the turbo is smaller?.... your restriction will always be the turbo intake pipe on the compressor housing

    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.

    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
