Hi,

today i come on to edit some of my For Sale posts and the edit button at the bottom of my post isn't there. i posted a new reply to the thred today and the edit button is at the bottom of that one, just none of the other older posts i have made.

i have two For Sale topics at the momoent and cant edit either of them, so its not a problem with just the one topic.

does anyone know or have any ideas as to why this is? the help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Josh

You could just post up again with the updates?

People reading the thread will see it.

Reason being we have dodgy traders editing thier posts so its harder for us to track down goods sold, what type and so on.

fair enough. will do from now on, thanks.

I also had this "problem"

Can the 2 hour thing maybe just used in the For sale sections? It's a real pain in the a55 if you've made a spelling mistake or said something silly in another section

Shouldn't say some thing silly in the first place :P

How does freezing the post stop bad traders? All i can imagine it doing is shortening the life span of their login.. which means they just have to work a bit harder to cycle their logins and get them ready for posting.

From both a buyer and seller perspective it makes the Parts for Sale Section harder to use. Adverts with multiple items can go on for weeks and have a lot of responses. I will normally continue to edit my first post to make it easy for people to get the most up to date information. With the lock in place people will have to scour through the whole thread before they know if they're wasting their time. One might then think to post separate items in separate threads but then you introduce other problems because an add won't stay in the first 2-3 pages long enough for people to browse it. Most purchases are made through browsing.

thanks

Wegs

We're looking at ways to revamp the for sale sections at the moment - there's a whole thread discussing it in the mod section so it's not being ignored.

I understand that not being able to edit your listings is a bit of a pain but there is method in the madness, and as alluded to previously it means that someone can't just sign up and do the dodge on someone, then remove or alter the records of what they had offered for sale.

I know it's not perfect but it's the lesser of two evils until a "proper" fix is in place. Thanks for your patience guys

I think the time limit is a great idea

if people really need to edit there items for sale then...

1) pm a section moderator with proposed changes the the relevant post

2) give a donation to SAU and get the extra's that come with that
