I have 3 sets from tire rack ordered.

If tires are below $1000 then doesnt matter how much shipping is you dont pay GST.

When you order tires make sure on invoice it says BRAND NEW, UN-TESTED, PERSONAL USE so customs have less of a reason to inspect the tires for dirt if they are new..

Shipping prices are cheaper if tires are over 100lb as fedex gives tire rack and discount, so u can pay $100 less on postage if your tires are over 100lb...

If you shipment is over $1000 then you pay $150 in fees + GST which also then inc your shipping.. i was $6 over once and payed $295...

$89+ Quarantine fee for all tyres regardless of cost

$55 for customs to caculate the GST

(Cost+shipping+89+55)/10 = GST (waiting on final invoice to confirm)

Final bill in Australia = GST+89+55

There is a way to avoid the quarantine fee but there's a lot of reading involved.

or you just make sure your tyres cost under $1000-

I paid $955 for 4 x 265 40 17 Dunlop Z1 Star Spec. However that price includes averaged shipping of 2 x 205 40 17 Advan ADO8s so the shipping was a bit cheaper.

Make it under $1000. Then- Fedex won't charge a AQIS Fee, you won't pay GST etc. Thats the difference between a SAC (Self Assessed Clearance) and a FID(Full Import Deceleration)

By the way- Fedex don't charge for Quarantine inspections on SAC entries, but DHL/UPS will.

Oh, and if its a SAC entry it doesn't matter jack what you actually stick to the package regarding decelerations. Everything is assessed electronically, and everything from tirerack gets looked at. Oh, and Customs don't look for dirt- unless it has guns drugs or roids in it...

Happy Buying! thumbsup.gif

I hear rumours AD08s locally have just had a MASSIVE price-cut to make them more reasonably priced. This occurred sometime this week.

Not surprised given everyone way going to Tirerack given the massive savings on offer

So before you import AD08s, hit-up local places and get some pricing ;)

Same thing happened with VE Commodore Spec Bridgestone RE050As in 2010/2011. Bridgestone Australia chopped up prices as to not make parallel imports (which ahd flooded the market at that time) no longer financially viable.

Looking at tires myself recently, particularly at RE002s (I think they're the RE-11 on tirerack?) and I can get them here for $245 ea, whereas tire rack was $210 ea last time I checked... Doesn't seem all that viable.

true bridgestones are expensive on tirerack as well however dunlop Z1 star spec or Advan AD08s are vastly cheaper or look into Hankook Ventus RS-3.

The Bridgeys certainly didn't used to be (at least in comparison to the Aussie market!) Particularly when looking at the larger more European sizes (255/35R19 etc.)

Yes, the Z1 Star Specs are a great deal via tirerack and I have advised a few friends to get them now. The AD08s are way cheaper then here too!

RE002 are adrenalin, not as good as the RE11 on tirerack

RE11 is up there with the AD08 and Z1 star spec where as the RE002 is strictly a street tyre

Don't contemplate buying AD08 from Tirerack. Yokohama have just stopped Tirerack from exporting them. Can only source them from other tire places in the US (like Discount tire) or the UK, or Aussie vendors (at horrible price).

Or get tirerack to send them somewhere in the US then forward to us in Aus?

I find it hard to believe that Tirerack won't sell them to us in Aus. Unless Yokohama as an entire company have threatened them Tirerack won't give 2 shits about Yokohama Australia, thy just want to sell product to whoever has cash.

the order I put through was only a month ago. When did they tell you that?

Australian tyre suppliers are sad because because they think we should pay through the nose for tyres, I've had them say all sorts of rubbish, you will get old tyres, they will be sub standard, when in fact the tyres I've got from OS have had newer build dates and are half the price for the same tyre.

You can get top quality tyres delivered for near on half the price of Australian bought tyres.

Thankyou tirerack.

Shop smart.

Just try it. There is no way that you will pay what priceusa want to forward tyres.

Since a month ago. Not my inquiry with them. Someone else. And yes, Yokohama are leaning on them. That's what I said in the first place.

Didn't read my post?

I can confirm local pricing has indeed been lowered substantially.

You can still get them from tirerack if you know what you are doing, WITHOUT going through priceusa etc.

But again, pricing has dropped, so there isn't any real need now.

Just try it. There is no way that you will pay what priceusa want to forward tyres.

I have and I did.

I bought 2x 225/40R18 and 2x 255/35R18 Toyo Proxes R1Rs through PriceUSA. Not only do Toyo not bring in the 255/35R18 size into Australia the costs were very reasonable.

    • Ok I get you. But isn’t the butterfly intake a headache with the +T?  see this is my plan so far but please advise me into the right direction.  Nistune Ecu, 1000cc Bosch injectors, TD05 or TD06 Kinugawa turbo using stock rb25det exhuast manifold, walbro fuel pump unsure of model I think it’s 450/460, spitfire coils and sparks to suit and a R35 MAF sensor and boost sensor.    I was thinking maybe do a cheap eBay plenum $400-500 or try find a stock det neo intake. I think I’d port match it so it’s getting the full capacity but open to advice please.  Thanks
    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG has not responded to my emails so far since purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
