Sooooo. Turns out the customs delay was caused by Tirerack not sending the right paperwork. Once this came through and after a fee for duty and an $89 quarantine inspection fee I had my new tyres in my hot little hands!

Overall, still shitloads cheaper than buying here and the tyre guys that fitted my new semis to my TE37s looked suitably in awe when we turned up there today.

This is a very welcome sight in my lounge and will be even more welcome on the GTR when she comes home soon:

Over all, experience with Tirerack was awesome!

yeah same thing I had, tirerack didn't include the Quarantine Paperwork, next time I'll get them to email it to me and follow up from this end just to be sure customs gets it.

+2 for what tyres are they and let us know how they perform ? thats some serious contact on the outside block.

Yeah that's a good idea I might do the same thing.

They are Michelin Pilot Sport Cups.

just put Michelin Pilot PS2 on my GTR, excellent grip dry and wet, little bit noisier than the Dunlop P600 that came off but I would expect the Michelins to last longer.

for anyone looking at a good tyre, I went for a spin in a mates new M3 and could not believe the grip, under braking, cornering and accelerating , in didn't step out or even give a hint of a squeal, and we were putting them to the test---------Pirelli PZero's, I'm very happy with the Michelins, but after that drive I'll be trying the Pirelli's next.

Yoko AD08s impressed me after a weekend on the skidpan

VERY good in the wet, car slid - thats gonna happen with 370rwkw, but it was predictable and didn't break traction as soon as i expected :D

We're glad our service worked well for you but regret our paperwork mistake caused a delay and extra work for you.

We will review our procedures to avoid this error in the future.

Welcome on the forum. I must add I've got nothing but excellent service from Tire Rack and the price is great (even during the "normal" exchange rates). But yea, its a bit unfortunate Kat got hit by that quarantine. Mine went through without any hassle.

if you like the AD08s try some dunlop Z1 star spec's next time. cheaper and better. I have AD08s on my grey 32 with the 2.7/motec etc and AD07s on the other 32 and the Z1s on the evo and having now driven on all of them extensively I reckon the Z1 are a touch better for a weekend car/occasional track car. very cheap from our friends at tirerack too. :)

Be even bigger fans if they stocked Bridgestone Re55's.

agreed!! :) please add RE55 to stock list. or dunlop direzza 03G. both very popular circuit tyres here in aus. they will definitely sell.

    • The 4WD version is harder to find so I compared the parts diagrams of the two https://nissan.epc-data.com/stagea/whc34/5414-rb20de/engine/172/17453/ and https://nissan.epc-data.com/stagea/wgnc34/287-rb26dett/engine/172/17201/ seems like the same part is called out: 17201...what with WHC34 tank work?
    • Thanks man, car is registered! Time to enjoy it. But if anyone has questions let me know happy to help others avoid my pitfalls.

    • I finally got it on the dyno today and luckily it stayed in one piece! It wasn't without its dramas though. First off, sent my power steering belt to the moon around the third pull. Scared me half to death. Tuner laughed and mentioned that often happens with RB's... I may need to look into adding the Ross power steering idler, or something a long those lines.  Second issue that came up was about 2 hours in, we realized the VCT wasn't working and had to go back through the timing and knock threshold once it was fixed (I had botched setting up VCT). That waisted a good hour or so. I was surprised to see that with VCT working, we saw a ~38rwkw difference across the powerband. More then I would of expected.  Without further ado, made 463rwkw@27psi. Not the numbers I originally set out after, but still more then enough to kill myself and I'm very happy. Mustang roller dyno's are known to be heart breakers compared to other dyno's. Two things that limited me, first was the hydraulic lifters/7600rpm cut. Tuner was adamant that I was losing out on a lot of power up top because of it. Second was the pump gas & WMI. He wasn't 100% comfortable tuning with WMI, and was honest about it. He stated he's more confident on E85/Race gas. I look at this as a positive as it leaves me a lot of room for improvement. All in all, very happy! I need to see what I can do about that rev limiter... I use to rev my stock RB20 to 8000rpm and now I have a fully built head that I only rev to 7600... It's bugging me.  Don't mind my fantastic picture/filming skills.  RB28 - Dyno (1).mp4
