just wondering how many of you out there this has happened to and how much damage you have done. the story goes first day at the track (haunted hills hill climb) get a good couple of pratice laps in then what we think at this point in time and after reading its a big end bearing wont know until we pull the engine out but yeah were pretty sure it has got oil in the head and run out of oil down the bottom from the car and the movement on the track and high revs. just wondering what you have done and what sumps everyone has used. i will be puttin one of those things on the back of the head to get the oil out but just wondering the best sump and where you have got them from and sort of price. also is the rev limiter bein set at 8 and a half to much revs

thanks

is it just me or this really hard to read. One of the longest sentences ever and hard to understand.......

+1

Oh, and search alot, this is well covered, including in a 40+ page thread on oil control for RBs...

I think it's the severe lack of punctuation.

sorry but i didnt know it was an english class cant read it or understand dont bother writing anything

It's hard to help you out when no one understands what you're asking.

sigh... no detail = fail.

what motor?

what mods?

also, you dont need external oil drain from the head. waste of time.

ill ask even though i probably know the answer...

did you overfill the sump by 1L like you should have?

Bingo bingo and bingo.

I went to all the trouble of doing the rear drain on cats car then tested it on the dyno..... even with it disconnected and running 7500 for close to 15sec (don't recommend this unless you own it  ) is still stayed dry...

no it wasnt over filled by a litre

Well that’s your first problem. A big no-no.

acl bearings, cp pistons, ported and flowed head, n1 oil pump

This sounds like the second…

What oil control/restriction mods were done as a part of the rebuild?

I’m gonna take another ‘wild’ guess and say none?

Realistically you don't need a sump if you've done everything else correctly for that level of setup.

Plenty of people before you have been totally fine.

So the head to sump oil return line that people have been using for years and everyone always says to do it.... Is a total waste of time and money and dosent make any benefit what so ever??

Not one circuit GTR down here has one.

If everything is done right with block restrictions and so forth, then you don't need it.

If you did a list of people with them, and then without... it would be extremely one sided.

not everyone, just everyone that only reads one side to the oil control in RB thread

and not to say it doesnt work, just doesnt work the way people think it does

but the ones trying to disprove its function only claim how it works in what they have seen on the dyno

how can it be tested on a dyno when it is not subject to the same g forces being placed on the car like it would be if it was at the track

that and the fact that they dont use them and dont have issues,

maybe there should be one at the front of the head, so under heavy breaking all the oil rushes into the sump :D

people run n1 pumps without issue too :D

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
