all r33 owners know the pain of the uv damage headlights, and the only fix is to polish them, is there some sort of finish that can be applied to the headlights to stop them yellowing up? or is there no prevention? only a fix?

cheers

GlassyLite Premium Headlight Restoration Kit

...specifically formulated for all polycarbonate plastics

> restores clarity (from dull, hazy or yellowed plastic)

> improves scratch resistance with nanosealant molecules (which I've never been able to see)

> stabilises polycarbonate from UV rays

Spend 15 mins by hand per headlight.

That I'm afraid, will depend on how much direct sunlight your polycarbonate is exposed to.

Guys on other car forums swear by it.

I used it (glassylite) on my 34 last week for this reason, it received such good feedback no matter where I looked on the net.

My headlights came up a treat, and the UV protectant (which most other headlight cleaning kits/methods don't include) is supposed to last a good year or two at least. Only time will tell how long mine lasts.

My car used to go maybe a month between polishing previously before they'd start to yellow. I'm now up to nearly 6 months since I used glassylite and the UV protectant, and they're still perfect and no yellowing.

I'm a total advocate for their product. Given the price and how quick it is - really, give it a try!

I saw that post too, it looked like the best result. Just wet sand with super fine paper - wash - dry - tape - and spray. No need for buffing, but it would be wise to make sure its a UV resistant plastic primer before applying.

UV stable clear window tint works

so does a Megs M108 polish then apply long term paint sealer, good for years still

don't park in the sun all day/everyday..lol

lexan is used for aircraft windows so the aircraft supply store is the best place for polish and ideas how to fix it.

hey I just got replacement headlights for my s2 33 gtst and theyre a bit yellowed, but the headlights look like a fixed unit. Just wondering if you clean the inside or the outside of the headlight covers and if inside, how much effort is it to open them up?

Just clean the outside first Jon with car polish or at worst, rejuvenator. Hopefully that's all you need to do.

But...

If it's an 'inside' job,

Then you can decide on whether/how to open them up.

"Search" button may reveal using an oven at low heat I recall...

They dont fit in the oven I tried, unless you have a bigger oven than me..

I did however manage to get the cover off with a 20$ bunnings heat gun.

Just warm around the seal about 15-20cms at a time until it gives and the seal is broken. Then do another patch but take your time .

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
