I've had my skyline for about 6 weeks now and i was starting to believe that most skyline owners are full of themselves or think they are better then you, like most of the ones in the city :D

Until today...

This morning, i was driving to work and i spotted a White R33 GTR in the back ground, i slowed to take a closer look, he pulled up beside me and clearly it had some money put into it. Suddenly the driver of about 35-45 gave me a wave! I was stunned, there are actually friendly/respectfull skyline drivers out there.

And to confirm this code of respect, only 30 mins ago i pulled up next to a replica of mine but white and was beaten to the wave. :)

Im glad to see that there actually is a code of respect between Skyline owners, a bit like the code between motor bikes.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but it pisses me off :cuss:

Some skyline owners ( myself included) are too busy keeping their eyes on the road , avoiding accidents and preserving our cars we spent so much time and money on.... :D

having said that, I dont see anything wrong with waving, and if you can SAFELY do so, go for it..........

too many people out there these days driving a 33 to wave anymore I think.. most just these days think "hmm, do i know this guy?". Thats maybe the confused look you are getting, thats what happens when people do it to me :D

Yah i know what you mean, i sometimes pull up next to or pass another skyline owner and normally get a wink or wave. quite often people dont look twice at mine as it looks pretty stock, but its all good once they hear the turbs. ehhee

Actually got a hotel upgrade and cheaper price once i told the hotel attendant that my car was a skyline, as he too had one.

My girl coudn't believe it....

I try to wave at every Skyline I see, even Sillotette's or however you spell them, because they are Skyline's too :D Yeah get a lot of wierd looks, and only a couple of waves, have not tried flashing high beams but would expect a fist in return :)

Ahh i rememebr those days .. like back in 2000 when my mate had a silvia .. there wernt many down my way (in sydney) and it was such an exitement to see another s13.. you would give the kombi wave..

Now im living up here in QLD if i gave a wave to ever r32,33,34 i saw my hand would fall off

I don't know what it's like now Duncan but when I lived in the Territory you waved at EVERY car on the road (well highway anyway, not in town) and 90% of people returned it.

I even tried to give the people I overtook a wave because I knew that I just scared the shit out of them by backing off as I passed. (I had a tickled 308 and two hot dogs, no muffler, quite advanced timing and flames out the back on a big back off :rolleyes:)

Scooby owners in the UK often wave or nod at each other according to my friend. Also, kit-car owners do it too.

It must be awesome to see somebody else with a car similar to yours that is as rare as a Skyline, give them a respectful wave and get one in return

I always give the ol' wave but mostly seem to get ignored... dont give a shit really cos every now and then youll give the wave and end up talking to someone whose not up themselves and is in love with cars and skyline in particular.

we definetly should start a skyline wave though... any ideas?

      So I raised the car up a fair bit for shipping - see image - then lowered it again when it arrived. I then rushed to get an alignment in NL before the track and the shop just wasn’t anywhere near as precise as what I got in Japan. The guys that did the alignment this week said there was a fair amount of toe in the rear that could have contributed to the understeer. It was also the case that the rear camber went from about -2 to -3 at the shop in NL. However, since I’ve now got slightly wider tires in the rear - NS2Rs run wider than Accelera 651S - I could only get a minimum of -3 in the rear now due to clearance. Front is now -2.75 (-2.45 in minutes) due to being raised a bit (previously -3 in JP). So it’s likely a combination of the two factors, camber and toe. The issue now is I have more camber in the rear than the front and the next step on the front Cusco arms will put me at -3.5ish front which seems a bit excessive to me. The weird thing is I’ve never had any understeer at the track in Japan but they are very different circuits - Japanese circuits are much slower than the one I’ve been to here.    I’m probably going to have to start another thread for the E90. The plan is sort of to keep it as a daily but progressively mod it into a track car - honestly, you need a cage for the sort of speeds you go here. Just ordered the M3 front arms btw.  Love the car despite it being in pretty shitty condition. Oil analysis came back okay and it seems to have stopped consuming oil since fixing a load of engine bay things. Saw yours is a 335i right? f**king mistake on my part getting the DI N53 over the N52, fuel economy is insanely good though at 14-16 km/L.   Cheers, it’s great to see the benefits and pitfalls of different places. I’m contemplating going back to the U.K. around next year as the cost of living in the Netherlands is just ridiculous. GF is nagging me to settle and buy a house but I don’t know what LSD to buy.

      Anybody home...? I used to moderate this part of SAU about 20 years ago... hard to beleive it's still around basically unchanged with all the old posts pinned at the top. Amazing to read all those posts again.  If anyone drops by, I'm still in Japan (Nishinomiya, between Osaka and Kobe).  Cheers 🙂
