That was with E85 with a SL20.5 @18psi, not SS2. Its also a 180sx that does not have VCT as the S14s do, it should come up pretty close response wise if working a S14/S15. In which my self is also interested to see that and the SSxx series runs on one.

But either way this is a turbocharger that has larger wheels on both compressor and turbine side, that will reach higher power figures compare to a TD05, in which the smaller TD05 should in return with better response, That is only comparing to a standard item.

Yep agreed - its not an overall fair comparison, the TD05 16G6 will match that power on E85 and do so with better response... than the SL20.5... I am certain of that, however it isn't apples for apples - as you keep raising boost/flow the SL20.5 will keep going up in power when the 16G6 will stop giving more at some point so it is better suited for a bigger purpose and no doubt its outright lag vs power potential is better.

So if high 200rwkw on a mild SR20 running E85 will keep you happy, the Kando 16G6 is hard to go past in terms of spool vs power vs cost

TD06H-20G 12cm going on a RB25/30 in a Patrol

A mate put an internal gate GTX3071R on his RB25 patrol which was used for long drives and general patrol like use and managed pretty much break the stock exhaust manifold! I would use the word 'crack' but it isn't strong enough to describe exactly how destructive it was

Be interesting to see how this performs, and fares!

Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 2

It did have a hks 2540 and made 320rwhp but the rear got fairly hot being a 0.64 so they have upgraded to help.

The wastegate hole has been bored out and a bigger flapper installed. Went from 22 to 31mm so about double the flow

anyone seen the new range? I'm tempted to give it a try.. on paper the specs look pretty good and it's a full kit.. no dicking about, however being internally gated I wonder what the limitations are for a reasonably sized turbo, i.e. TD06H-25G

Hey, what turbo from this list would you suggest for a basically stock RB25 with Nistune, 550cc injectors and GTR pump? On a stock manifold.

Not after anything crazy, it's just for street use and my stock turbo is dying. Just want something that will give me the most from my simple upgrades :)

Cheers

As promised, quality pics including boost curve for the Kando TD05H-16G6 (anti-surge) internally gated turbo my mate uses on his stock SR20DET - I only have good quality image of the DIN corrected dyno plot, though the photo I supplied last time of the SAE2004 corrected screen still had it at just on 250kw so not a major difference, but the boost curve is probably of greater interest... shows how quickly this frequently underestimated turbo comes on, and how much more flow it has on offer. It also shows that despite popular sentiment the Kinugawa anti-surge housings don't make laggy at all, at least in the case of this particular unit it actually spools VERY well for the power it is capable of:

The 16G I just posted the results for had quite severe boost creep when I started tuning it which was a SERIOUS pain in the butt, nothing we could do would stop it and was going to run >20psi - even if we held the swing arm wide open :( This is how we found out the turbo is capable of 270+kw without issue, lol.

It needed porting to avoid this, and others have mentioned that internal gated TD06s have that issue - so it may or may not have it, but I'd say it'd be better to just do it before installing it as it isn't an overly difficult thing to do at all if you have the tools.

If you want a simpler option you should seriously look at a hypergear instead. He can highflow your stock turbo for a similar price to the above and it is a knock performer.

Bolt it back on and get it tuned, no worries.

Apologies for the sound quality in this clip, its awful - and a shame because the car sounds pretty cool IRL, but here is the Silvia I have mentioned a few times doing it's first track outing running a Kando TD05-16G... was hoping sound would come out better so you can tell how good response etc is, but I think the clip still shows how effortless and generous it's power delivery is... even though it probably has another useful 7psi of boost which could be utilised :)

nice!

question tho where did you get that gauge mount?

I just use the new gt3560 t04 hybrid on my forged rb25

Insane turbo see full boost at 3800rpm

The car is freaky fast love it

Please provide your dyno sheet and update on any drag results if possible :) Sounds great.

hey peeps

after some info on the td06 range what you guys think

TD06 SL2 or TD06H

noted there is a fair bit in wheel size between the 2 but the main thing is the wheel! ive noticed they come in a 9 or 11 blade wheel however the 9 blade is $300 more and can for see any benefits. Both wheels come in billet option as well

td06H

Compressor Wheel 60.5 / 78 mm (25G Wheel) Turbine Wheel 58.8 / 67.2 mm (TD06H)

td06 sl2

Compressor Wheel 52.5 / 68 mm (20G Wheel) Turbine Wheel 54.1 / 61 mm (TD06SL2)

    • Biggest thing is you're okay!   It sounds like between the accident, and the drive home, it was a pretty torturous trip again! On the bright side, you took the opportunity to enjoy the event more from the perspective of a spectator, than as an entrant!   Sad to see so much damage to the car. It really has taken a HUGE hit in the front end. If/when you choose to repair, hopefully the rails are straight (At least from shock tower backwards). Hopefully the extra cage coming through there has save most of the chassis rails, and HOPEFULLY saved the motor too. Best of luck when you eventually get motivated to start pulling it down to check it all out
    • Sounds more like what Brad said, that it's mainly transfer. What pad bed in procedure did you use, and did you replace/machine the rotors, or just swap pads?
    • The stutter is almost entirely in the pedal. I don't feel the brakes release and reapply as you would with ABS engaging but the pedal feels that way, without the brakes releasing. It only lasts for less than a second and the pedal is fine again. It's hard to explain, sorry.  I'll get under this weekend and just double check everything is tight. Fluid is at max where I left it.
    • What bedding in procedure did you use?   When you say stutter, what exactly do you mean? Like it feels like someone letting go of the brakes momentarily and regrabbing them again to get you to stop? Re-reading your post, and that is what it kind of makes me think you're explaining, like theres a little bit of a jolt, likely just as you're reaching a stop. I've only had this issue once. And if its caused by what caused mine, you will want to get the car up on stands again and check it over. Mine was a case of a caliper mounting bolt coming out and letting the caliper rotate on the other remaining bolt and gave play in a wheel as it came to a stop. But not every stop either!
    • Yeop... binned it   This will be a summary will not many pics atm and cbf  Fixed the samsonas - it was totally munched Put a new precision 7675 T4 on with proper split pulse mani Got to Sydney to get to car - drove to canberra to get racecar - drive back to sydney that night Next day all day at Plasmaman putting on new clamps cleaning some things up and adding another large engine oil cooler sitting at the rear above diffuser to keep things cooler Next day - Tuesday - on Dyno - killer wikid awesome pumped out really good numbers - more mid range and on lower boost levels Wednesday - first prac - all day again getting the suspension right - had to borrow front suspension again - out do a lap come in - out do a lap - in - what i had just couldnt handle the load at the more consistent higher speeds - got a lap in at the end of the day that was pretty reasonable  Put it this way that lap wouldve had me in 4th in Pro am for the whole event - with only 700 hp and used tyres Thurs first official prac day - lap out warm up - then entered a hotlap with above setting and 80% effort took corners 1,2,3 and into 4 car felt awesome -  rear came around out of nowhere bang into the wall near front on at whatever 140 kmph Done, over, gone Just one of those how did that happen apparently as all indications show nothing out of the ordinary Got to spend the rest of the time at the event like I hadnt done before - was actually Ok mainly as I had my family and my boy is 9 and got treated like a rockstar Long trip home, lost a trailer wheel in nowhere land, X5 airbag suspension gave up half way across nullabour and rode on bumps stops (its now completely fine) had to do a 19 hr drive day on day 3 as accommodation got screwed up so just had to keep driving till found a town with some Now to reassess - hopefully the motor and other things are OK but yet to be seen too. There is no easy fix there is no i'll just order that part and get it sent - we'll have a talk to people see what can happen and what the go is but at minimum its rebuild from scratch struts forward and alot of time effort and $ should and if I return and if but maybe/ when  I have the cage tied into the front strut towers - if I didnt have that things couldnt been worse you can say its just a front end but if you know what goes into these cars... you'll know what that actually means in reality   Car was very fast. Disappointing we just didnt get to show it Effort doesnt win you races though     Apparently this is motorsport !
