Ok since my car is bat shit boring and I wanna get back into sliding again after never owning a 6cyl in my

life Id like some opinions on a best suited turbo for the internally stock rb25det. Basically all I aim for

is a cost effective song engine combination that will aid in me sliding like a happy camper once again.

I WILL be using a stock manifold with an external wastegate mod done sponsored by a fellow member 10WRB but

Im still retarded in picking a turbo that would be best suited for wat I want. I have seen a few posts about

a GTX3076 and I do know a 3076 can make 400hp which would be enough for wat I need so Im here for more extra

input befor I lash out and by something to big or to small and Ill end up in tears.

End of the day I wanna be able to bake tyres, have the reliability without goin over the top and to keep it

looking semi stock.

Cheers

Isnt the GT-RS a fairly expensive turbo?

Iv seen a few skyline vary in power from 300 - 400 with these

Id like to keep boost around the 16-18 psi mark if this helps anymore

How much are you wanting to spend? If you're baller, then a Garrett GTX3071R or a Borg Warner EFR7064 would be the way to go - if you're middle of the road then a Garrett GT3076R with internal gate, otherwise something like a Kando Dynamics T67 would probably be pretty nifty for a budget option if they carry on behaving as nicely as people are finding them so far.

Dont wanna fork out anymore then 1800-2000 for a turbo. Just rang MTQ and they are saying that the GTX series will be goin for around the 2k mark

so Ill hang out till they have stock and go from there.

Thats why I gave you a range of options, seeing as you didnt specify a price in the first place. Obviously a GT3076R with internal gate is probably the most suitable option for you.

Nah 2k for just the turbo I was talking about haha.

Manifold, gate, dump is all under control already.

Anything with a GT30 core will bolt straight up to wat I can

get my hands on.

I do like that t67 25g kando turbo aswell but I dont like f**kin around with flanges

n shit cause im far to lazy for that.

I will most likely hang out for either the GTX 3071 or the GTX 3076 and go with either or.

Just had a gander at the Kando Dynamics T67 25g...

Wow lol

Definitely WOW! Just remember that has an aftermarket manifold, external wastegate and runs E85 fuel.

I think the HKS GT2835 Pro S is the best overall turbo out there for a stock RB25 today, 280-290rwkw on 98 with full boost by 3500rpm. Things might change once these GTX turbos come out. Only time will tell.

f**kin wow alright haha.

Yeah see I just wanna be able to bolt it on, ram 18pound through the guts, put fuel in it and away I go.

Obviously Iv missed tuning n shit but you get the point. So ill play the waitin game till these GTX turbos

land here and then do a bit of shopping around, might make up for a late xmas present. If the GTX 3071 can flow

10% more then a GT3076 Id like to see the performance of a GTX3076 .82 on the rb25.

The Kando T67 comes with a T3 flange so you wouldn't have to change anything :)

Except for your exhaust manifold, external wastegate and dump pipe! Or you have to get some custom piping done to run an external wastegate.

I'd absolutely love to experience a GT2835 and a GT3076R back to back, I went with the GT3076R with the view I might end up going to a built motor and IMHO the GT2835 suits a completely unopened RB25 nicely - but not much more.

    • Hi everyone, I've been wrestling with this for a while now and have been trying to find out the cause. For context, the turbos used are Garrett 2860 -5s, the BOV is a BNR32 HKS SSQV IV kit, the car is currently tuned to ~470 whp on 17.5 psi. The car drives normally, pulls well when it doesn't happen, and I can replicate it fairly easily. It does not sound like turbo shuffle or flutter. The engine has only a thousand or so miles and has had this behavior since it was completed. After my engine was built for my R32 GTR, I noticed that the car now sometimes makes an air discharge sound on what appears to be positive boost pressure that sounds really similar to a BOV. I had thought that it was a BOV issue but even when replacing it with a brand new unit, the sound persisted. It seems like it's coming from the passenger side but I may be mistaken. The closest scenario I could find was this post here https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/https://www.gtr.co.uk/threads/maybe-a-boost-leak-opinions.147955/ started by @yakshii and it sounds very similar. As in, at partial throttle once I reach positive boost I begin to hear the same psh psh psh psh psh sound like air is leaking somewhere when I keep the throttle in the same position. It most commonly happens in 4th gear at around 3-3.5k RPM and 5th gear around 2.5-3k RPM, which seems to coincide with normal positive boost thresholds. It might be similar to what @Austrian GTR mentioned about his own HKS SSQV. Notable difference would be that when he applies more throttle when it happens, it stops. In my scenario if I apply more throttle during this repeated psh psh psh sound, the cadence of the sound gets faster and louder rather than stopping. If I lift off slightly and apply throttle again, it will normally stop and pull without issue. I've checked all rubber couplers to ensure that they are tight, but have not gotten the opportunity to properly do a pressurized boost leak test. If anyone has had similar experiences or thoughts on what might be the cause, I'd be very keen to hear them. I also have a video of it happening from inside the cabin, if that would make it easier to understand: https://youtu.be/2zqZXcx8jbA
    • I'd want at least $40K for mine, but thats easy to say cos I'm not selling anyway.
    • That's incorrect. We have 4 seasons, consisting of pre winter, winter, post winter and a small glimpse of hope!
