I have no interest in a driving a truck what so ever, but dont try and tell me how bad all the other drivers are i watched a truck today on teh ring road push everyone out of its way as it was doing well over the speed limit and if someone didnt move he rode there bumper on those air brakes making a heap of noise until they moved not to mention the dodgy lane changing..

truck drivers calling other people bad drivers is an absolute joke!

Your a sports car enthusiast and your painting all truck drivers with the same brush?

What is wrong with you?

That's the same as saying you've seen some skylines drive dangerously, therefore no skyline driver should comment on other drivers.

The vid isn't targetting cars specifically...on more than one occasion he comments about trucks costing him side mirrors. Truth is, almost everyone on the road is a pretty average driver and we all make bad mistakes from time to time. Alas, convenience is the price on human life. Compulsory licence retesting for the win...

Woah I was not expecting the trucks to behave like that towards each other in the video ... the cars yeah they are stupid and do dumb things because most people have nfi about how hard it is to pull up a truck but you would think that other truck drivers would have an idea of just how hard it is.

I don't know if you actually watched the whole video through, but the footage clearly shows a number of trucks doing the wrong thing with a caption pointing it out.

No one said there aren't idiots out there driving trucks, but they do have a cnut of a job.

I've spent a lot of time driving unusual vehicles, such as tractors, motorbikes and oversize vehicles, around the city and I can tell you it's tough. I also have spent a lot of time around heavy vehicles as my dad did interstate for years and is now a coach driver and my best mate owns a transport company.

I'd say from my experience, which is vast, 80% of truck drivers are good drivers and drive well.

On the flip side I'd say 35% of car drivers are good drivers and drive well.

there is a few like that going around, some dude on a push bike scanning rego's and putting up a report about them. so many un-registered cars on the road

Thats why i'm sus of people always towing trailers, as i met someone who drove around un-regoed for well over a year. Yep with a regoed trailer on the back!

My arguement is, I see a LOT of truck drivers doing well over the 100 kmh speed limit; Yet their trucks apparently say "90 kmh speed restricted"? Some idiots need their licence taken away.

Im on the road day in day out for work as well, And even I've seen some pretty crazy shit.

You need to respect trucks on the road, Look at their tare weight. They are beasts on the road.

I take my hat off to the guy who recorded that. We need more drivers like HIM on the road, And not wankers who think a 40tonne truck is a sports car.

Most newer trucks store speed info in their on-board computers, I know the cops in SA (A few years ago now) have approched Cummins, etc for use of the plug in consult laptops to be used checking trucks speed along the Great Australian Bight. So even if they were speeding 2 days before hand they would still get fined.

I personally didn't see any problems with half of that footage, however being in the drivers seat(of a 70odd tonne vehicle) is different to watching some video. Its not even about respect for trucks, it is pure fear in my books. You do not know how well maintained they are!

check my many posts i am the last person to jump on the "hoon skyline driver" bandwagon, if people want to to cry over askyline in the paper caught doing skids causing more trouble for them they should get their head checked.

I'm yet to encounter a decent truck driver, i only encounter them on the western ring road/princes and they are fkd, now they are banned from the right lane they push people out of the way in the remaining 3 lanes they are meat heads who think cos they are in a truck we should all move for them. I have no problem slowing down when they sit on my bumper at 100kmh.

Had an EPH earthmoving b-double cut me clean off on a round about on Mornington Peninsula on Friday... I literally had to stop!

This dickhead just pointed at me out of his cabin as if to say "stop I rule the road".

Granted a lot of drivers of cars and trucks do a lot of things wrong, but this was plain stupid.

You didnt try going up the inside of him did you?

Cause you really should give a B-double space at a roundabout its just the courteous thing to do.

If he was in the intersection first, then he's in the right. If you were trying to get up the inside of him, then he was in the right.

I'm going to predict, that as you didn't actually hit him, the first point is probably close to the mark. I mean, if he pulled out in front of you even though you had entered the roundabout first you would have A) Got around him or B) run into his front right corner.

    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
