Fitting an exhaust pipe the width of a soft drink can to your car won't just attract the attention of the neighbours and passers by, it's likely to get the cops on your tail.

A former senior highway patrol officer says heavily modified Japanese imports garner the most attention from the boys in blue.

"The cars with the big drainpipe exhausts — the Subaru WRXs and the [Nissan] Skylines and [Toyota] Supras — you look pretty hard at because they've usually been heavily modified and the modifications can be illegal," he says.

yeah i read that today. A bit dissapointing but at the end of the day we all know imports gets targetted more, always have and probably will be.

And let's be honest here, most guys driving around in imports have some sort of illegal shit hanging off it, so it's easy picking really.

..... are we REALLY doing this??

like - is this ACTUALLY what we're doing on a friday?

*sigh*

what planet are you from, i don't even know how to talk to him...

i mean no disrespect.

no but seriously - if you wrote this, in my eyes that means you are the worst journalist ever. i have NEVER seen such a shameless attempt at inflammatory writing styles, and what's with your contradictions? if you're going to have a "hard line" at a point then stick to it? don't retract it a sentence later...

"there's a website i found that thinks that hummers are not good cars, but i talked to a guy that drives a hummer and he says it's a good car"

"there's a guy that i talked to when i was writing this article that says he doesn't like ferraris, but then a while after that i talked to a guy that says he DOES have a ferrari and likes it"

there is no conclusion to this article. this is singularly the worst piece of garbage i have ever read.

it reads like something that those clowns at TMZ would write..

"Renae Zelwigger shows us that she's NOT afraid to do shopping... ALONNNNNEEEEE????"[/b]

*shows clip of renae zelwigger walking out of a cafe sipping an orange mocha frappuccino*

"then again she does like to relax with her friends!!!"

*cue clip of renae zellwigger throwing a ball*

as if we didnt already know about those hoon nissan volvo drivers!!!!

ps. there is not one pic of a WRX, Skyline or Supras

"Most highway patrol officers appreciate a nice V8. If you get pulled over in one of those, it's more likely to be because they want to have a closer look at it," he says

Such disappointing comments...

Thats because most cops are bogans...

this story is a joke, so its ok to rip the pollution gear out chuck a huge cam and decat in a 6lt engine but not a 2.5lt one..bit hypocritical ey..

I'm a cop and I don't share this view (obviously).

I do agree though, most HWP blokes are older and only appreciate v8's for obvious reasons... that's all they knew growing up etc.

It's just a shame that imports have this stigma attached to them... especially with a certain genre of people.

I kinda don't like telling people what car I drive... I immediately get the "fully sick lebo car eh???"

So Mr. Police Officer, would you pull over a pretty girl in a bayside blue r34 with a decent exhaust? ;)

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
