and neither his plenum or exhuast manifold will bolt to it, may as well just buy a r35 send it to HKS and demand 60 tonnes of downforce and a jazillion killawasps while there at it. dont stuff around trowelly, go hard or go home

oh, you guys were just kidding?

RIPS seemed really cheap and when I called them they were really nice, so I bought one of thier RB25\30s Long motors

Just arrived Yesterday Afternoon, should be good for Round 4 :)

Edit: Hey Jack, can you paint my rocker covers for me please? Need it done before Saturday!

f**k you, my car only just started and you're shoving in and RB25/30. You said you had bought a new engine, I was wondering why you went so damn quiet when I asked what it was...

Seriously, f**k you buddy.

So f**king jelly. f**k.

  • 3 weeks later...

Here are some more pics of broken bits.

Piston #1, melted a bit and the top ring snapped into 3 bits.

Piston #1 on right with another OK piston for comparison.

Bearings in the Mains Girdle, this one, #6 was particularly hurt.

#2 Mains bearing, what looks to be a little uneven wear, I don't have the gear to measure it though.

Most of the mains bearings looked like this, except the middle thrust bearing.

Another mains bearing.

Another pic of #6, I've got no idea what the f**k happened here....

So yeah, that's a good $250 piston ruined by me being an asshole. All the other 5 are like perfect though, not really sure what to do with them... All the rods are perfect, the little end bearings are perfect. The cylinder walls are all OK, need a good hone and they'd be good to go. Except for #1, that's got a weird scratch in it, but it's below where the piston skirt is. Not really sure how that happened? It's hard to take a picture of though

I reckon all the bearings are hurt from oil surge problems from doing Sprints and Drifting with a stock sump.... 61 seconds around basky with a stock sump, doesn't love it!

I've got a new complete engine coming soon; I'll be nicer to this one.

If anyone has a RB25DET block or short motor lying around, let me know!

    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
    • @GTSBoy yeah sorry i know thery are known for colors bud those DBA are too in colors 🙂 Green will be good enough for me
    • That's my life. Past-Duncan has a lot to answer for
    • Yep four point harness. Mounted to a bolted in brace running behind the seats. Dont use it for daily driving tbh but good to have for when its needed plus it looks cool.
    • I had to double check the thread title r34 gtt offset advice lol. Thought maybe i posted on the wrong thread. 😂
