Hi all,

basically iv got an R33 GTST. At the moment iv got 18x9.5 +36 on the rear which fit with plenty of room. I have the guard lip completely cut out pre-emptively but n these puppies fit with plenty of room and i still run the minimum camber possible on R33 standard camber system, also car is lowered alot.

so now im looking at putting 19x10 +10 on the rear. Is it possible? any body done this before? (photos?)

i dont want to run any more camber. But im happy to raise it up a bit in height (i have adjustable suspension) so it doesnt hit the guards like it does when its low. Also able to put on the arch flares so that it doesnt look like the rims stick out further than the body.

any thoughts on all this? particularly actually getting them to fit...

cheers people.

Dont think its a very good idea

according to this your new wheels will sit 32mm further out then what your current ones do.......

From what I know a 10" +10 offset is a GTR fit

lol yes it can fit, dont need "gtr" guards BUT if you dont want any camber etc then no it wont without arches which will look homo.

so really id say dont bother cos what your describing will look bad

thanks for all the replies people.

yeah begining to err on the side of too hard basket. sounds like it will be a mission and even then it may not be a good outcome...

however if anybody has any pics or direct experience with fitting this typre of rim to an R33 GTST id be dead keen to hear about the experience...

its 100% possible but not with out camber/low if you leave stock hieght etc it will hang out considerably i've got 18x10+20 with heaps of room could easily fit a +10 being 19s wouldnt make much difference other than the car will overall be higher.

mmm, cheers for that alex.

you mean heaps of room after cutting/rolling the guard lip? also what camber do you run.

iv considered the whole lifting it up aspect cos iv got adjustable. Definately something id prefer to do before throwing camber at it and consequently wrecking good tyres as well as my ability to get the power down...

ive got 18x10 +18's with 265/35 tyres. camber arms maxxed and rolled guards and the top of the wheel just sits inside. so you'll have to have you car raised abit but will still stick out. cops will pump u for it anyway.+22 would be a better fit to reduce the camber and have the wheels sitting in the guards a bit better.

Sounds abit extreme to me IMO. But yes they will fit. How they will look is another question. Very mexican.

I have 9.5 +25 on my R33, and they are not entirely in the guards. Thats with rolled and slightly pumped rears too.

yeah i decided against it.

Deciding piece was I saw a guy rock up to buy a part off me n he had 18x10+22 on his gtst which sat real mexican n realised its not my thing (especially when thowing in the cop bait factor).

cheers for all the info and perspectives people.

just need a GTR now so i can get those epic rims.... :)

what does fit nice involve? can you see the rims when looking from the back down the line of the body (as in are they sticking out form the arches mexican style?)

n hows the camber wear and traction too?

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
