I've corner weighed plenty of skylines.

Every one of them varies but on average an r33 gtst's come in around 58%front heavy

R33 GTR's are typically 62-65% front heavy.

Comparably a 32 gtst is 56-60% front and a GTR 58-62%.

Most of the cars I've done vary in trim level, cages, body mods etc so it's pretty hard to get an accurate average.

So going off that 58%, say a R33 GTST weighed 1400kg, it would take moving around 112kg from the front to the rear of the vehicle to get close to a 50/50 weight distribution.

Or removing 224kg from the front to get close to a 50/50 weight distribution.

Or obviously a mixture of moving and removing.

Crazy. Makes you really see how front heavy they are.

FR: 430kg

FL: 447kg

RR: 360.5kg

RL: 331kg

Remounting stuff goes a long way to helping without actually removing that much weight from the car.

Moving weight around on a set if good scales has the greatest benifit.

Typically if building a car from scatch it will permanently be sitting on scales.

I have been doing an s15 recently which has always been on the scales so things can be located once and properly.

The height various components are mounted is just as important as their location if your worried about a front to rear center of gravity height and roll axis as well.

Corner weighting via ride heights with a purpose built race car should be done after the car is statically balanced with weight.

Just for your info my r33 gtst stripped out and caged weighed in at 1374kg on the scales at EC. That is with a full tank of fuel and all factory body panels. I am very keen to get it down to the mid 1200's.

Mike was your car weighed with driver and full fluids?

Just curious

Full fluids with 3/4 tank of fuel. No driver... would have been a lot worse we me in the driver seat, you have seen the state of me Brad, lol. I think if you could get at least 100-150kg of weight out of the R33 GTR in the front half of it it would make a lot of difference.

Just put mine on a set of corner weights. Striped interior and of stock loom. Driftek 17/9.5 GTR off with 235/45 Kumho V70A glass bonnet all other pannels std (Drivers door has no insides at all though) And 1/2 tank of fuel.

Cross 613kg 50.3%

Left 613 kg 50.3%

rear 511 kg 41.9%

LF 353kg RF 353kg

LR 260kg RR 251kg

Total 1217

I need to re do it with me in it yet, but is a starting Point.

I have 10kg to come out of the pas door and a set of light kevlar Guards to go on..... looking for 1280 full of fuel and with me on board.

I am also trying to put my car through the Jenny Craig program and this threads been great but this will be a silly question to most of you but where would I go to weigh my car? lol How much will it cost?

Also would taking out the side rear air bags be illegal for a road registered car?

Taking out any factory airbags is illegal in most states (most likely all). Also as far as I am aware, disconnecting just one airbag in a vehicle with multiple airbags makes the rest not work.

Any good workshop that sets up race cars should have calibrated corner weight scales.

If you just want an overall weight a public weigh bridge will do. I took my truck over one today was $22.00

weight your car at a garbage tip for free, if you are near a tip that uses weight to charge for rubbish, drive in turn around and come out...no weight change no cost... lol...

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways. 
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
