IF you are referring to the 'Grazed Rim', it was the rear left that had the gutter scratch/graze, but, it was the rear right that cracked!

I have a new rim in place of the cracked rim and still have the scratched rim (which I touched up with some paint and nail polish clear) on my car.

OK!

no...my point is "i never hit anything" how ever this post contradicts your claim....wouldnt you agree?

Fantastic news

Like I said in my first post..communicate to the CEO or someone similar when having to deal with poor decisions by middle line managers.

The employees of any company in these top level strategic positions have a much much better vision of keeping the customer happy.

yeah. totally agree with that line earlier about how the customer should be given benefit of the doubt unless the company has solid evidence of user fault. i think what a lot of middle-managers seem to get into their heads is that they shouldn't be too hasty to accept any returns or it sends a message to everyone else that they are pushovers and leads to some customers abusing the system. but when it comes down to it, one customer having a bad experience is going to cost you far more in the long run than the odd few who slip a fast one by them from time to time. sounds like nissan needs to realise this.

i think the damage to the relationship is usually already done once the customer has to fight for their desired outcome. if the customer simply presents the issue and the company provides a good solution first time, and of their own accord then thats what i find really impressive on the company's part and will only strengthen that customer's relationship with the company.

I guess I do not consider a tiny rim scratch when parking 'hitting' something that could cause a structural defect?

f**k stop using exclamations Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

UPPER CASE, EXCLAMATIONS, UNDERLINING AND SOMETIMES EVEN A LITTLE BOLDING, GIVES ME SUCH A DEEP SEATED SENSE OF EMOTIONAL RELEASE, I JUST CAN'T HELP IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Know what I mean?

First of all, congratulations on the outcome. I dont know the reason behind Mizuno-sans decision but I am sure, he wouldnt have wanted to have any negative publicity nor attention at such an event. Regardless, well done with your desired outcome.

Reading this and other comments on Nissan and their warranty or lack of, has made me want to comment. I have owned various models by Nissan both in Australia and here in Japan. I know from my personal experience that they are very good and will absolutely honor a claim, even if not caused by their workmanship. I might be wrong here but I think you guys have 5 years which is actually better than us in Japan as a new car warranty is only 3 years - if this is true count yourselves very lucky.

I wonder how all this high claims and negativity effects Nissan when considering releasing the GTR outside of Japan. Generally, Japanese tend to think foreigners as troublesome already and I am sure this adds to their feeling. I remember asking my Nissan service manager about GTR warranty issues and he says that they dont have anywhere near the problems heard outside of Japan. Very few blown transmissions and issues are usually not caused by the same problems like hard launches. For those who know the Japanese culture, understand that they are not one who whines when a problem occurs, especially when something was clearly not meant to be done in the first place. Speeding for example, 19 out of 20 times, they will accept the fine (with a smile in many cases) because they know that they were in the wrong.

Personally, I have not launched my car with VDC off. Should I do this and destroy the transmission, I will most probably try to get this replaced under warranty and chances are, they will honor it here. If they were not to do this however, I will also most probably bitch, whine, complain and cause trouble for them but only because I am still a foreigner...

Hopefully this helps some of you understand the Japanese culture difference and perhaps how they perceive all this negativity towards the GTR outside of Japan.

Final note, my in-laws also own Nissans and I don’t think that I am anymore special than them when it comes to how I should be treated for warranty claims. Just because I bought Nissans top of the line doesn’t ensure I get special privileges.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate the comments.

Also, if anybody else out there has another genuine Nissan warranty issue, let's hear about it and then make sure we do something about it.

As a result of all this, I now know that this forum and many others are being regularly viewed and monitored by Nissan.

If you watch the original Carlos Goshn GTR doco, you will see that Nissan used the internet to establish the R35 GTR's reputation and kudos leading up to its launch. In fact Carlos even banned conventional advertising for the R35 GTR.

It seems that Nissan has forgotten that they don't own the internet and if they stuff up, it can bite back in equal measure and undo all there hard work.

As a small part of that original hard core internet market segment, together WE can send both positive and negative messages to hundreds of thousands of Nissan owners and potential buyers whenever or wherever we like.

So, maybe Nissan Australia will now take the attitude that their customer service needs to at least equal their sales promise?

Lets hope!

Are you saying, Japanese people would consider standing up against Nissan on a genuine warranty claim, whining and therefore unreasonable?

Please explain?

im glad someone said it, for anyone with any idea about japanese culture, this will have come as no surprise. this talk about Nissan Australia apologising is a joke, we're not in Japan, we're in Australia, we deal with things different here.

Are you saying, Japanese people would consider standing up against Nissan on a genuine warranty claim, whining and therefore unreasonable?

Well I am not exactly suggesting that they would not stand up against Nissan on a genuine claim. What I am saying is that it would seem that the large majority of claims with the GTR, and the transmission for example, happens outside of Japan. It rarely happens in Japan and were it to happen here, Japanese owners would accept it IF Nissan were to deny the claim due to not following the instructions outlined in the manual. Given the rare incidents here in Japan, I would think that Nissan will still honour claims anyway but I cant imagine owners whining were they denied.

Its hard to explain if you have not lived in this country for a number of years. Believe me, I still wonder why people here do some of the things they do or not do, but thats the beauty of this country and its culture.

my experience with the Japanese culture, is that they will politely agree to whatever you want, getting them to deliver is another story. but in this case, given who Mizuno is, shouldnt be a problem i presume.

Wow,I can't believe the venom displayed by some posters on this forum.

......................

In this level of car category the customer is given the benefit of the doubt unless malicious damage is on show.

This is not the case here as the rim is not marked so it should have been replaced fuss free even if there is in Nissans mind some mitigating circumstances.

+ 1

If the GTR rims can't handle Australian roads then it needs thicker rims.

    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
