Any Car Faster Than Gtr Good For Airport Run?

...Gnomes have a chance of fitting in the back of R35s...

Link me to info you have saying "3.046"

You can easily fit 2 adults in the backseat of an R35. 2 adults can even have sex in the backseat of an R35. It's difficult but can be done.

Really? I haven't tried but it's pretty cramped back there. You've achieved this successfully? Surely if you can afford a R35 you can afford a hotel room.

But really, i'm not a big fan of the back seats. Does anyone know if I ripped out the backseats and put in a roll cage, would it be able to double as storage space or luggage rack?

Achieved, yes. Successful maybe. There are many degrees of successful.

Back seats in the R35 are really only good for ferrying kids around, which i do with my lot quite often. But anyway whats even more spectacular are lap times. 0-100km/hr gets boring fast. Hell i am sure we could build a 600hp falcadore with a 4500 stall that will drag off a godzilla, for less than 1/4 the price. Where to mate?

Relax with the R35 better than the rest crap, go out and drive some cars is all I can say. I have a 2010 R35 and I lurk here every now and then.

It is a great car for the money, there are still better cars out there but you pay more for them and it depends in what you want from a car. If you want looks then don't get an R35, if you want reliability don't get an R35 ( I keep having issues and finally Nissan is ordering a transmission for me, my navigation/multimedia unit sometimes works, sometimes doesn't). If you like to pose to euros about your 0-100 times and 60ft launch times then get an R35, but then they get back by saying "what about your 60-160 times? " If you can afford something better, then get it, if you can't then you are stuck with these, although they are not bad, they are not great either and only kids and hoons seem to appreciate them unless you are at an owners meet. I have never had a random breath test in anything other than the R35 which I have been singled out 3 times since owning it (no fines).

0-100 times are not what car guys care about, ofcorse an R35 is going to have a good 0-100 time, it is awd and geared for it, japs are facinated about 0-100 times and 60 ft launch times. And yes it has an awesome 0-100 time for the money you spend.

I am glad I have owned an R35, but when I sell it I won't miss it. It doesn't excite me like other cars and bikes do. An MX5 excites me more.

I am currently looking for a new car to replace the R35, Series 3 sounds good, but do I want to do it again? Probably not.

In regards to being the fastest. Wakefield and Winton lap times say it all.

Wakefield:

Porsche 911 turbo = 1:05

Porsche 911 GT2 = 1.05.05

Porsche 911 Gt3 = 1.05.10

Series 2 R35 GTR = 1.05.80

Winton

Porsche 911 GT2 = 1.32.10

Lambo Gallardo = 1.32.80

Series 2 R35 = 1.33.70

Series 1 R35 = 1.36.30

Found it from the Wheels Magazine, short tracks so a 1 second difference is quite large really.

Back seats are for extra luggage and the dog :rofl2:

the 3 dead is impressive in videos, but in reality cars are much slower than US and Japan tests on Aussie soil

the back seats in the R35 are also good for comparing the different grades of vinyl used bw the rear seats, front seats and dashboard :whistling:

but i still love it, best car ive owned so far, i can drive to and from work in comfort and zero fuss, park it without fear of getting keyed, tinker with the mods, head out to the country in the dead of the night for a blast, then give it a detail on sunday ready for another week

and only kids and hoons seem to appreciate them unless you are at an owners meet.

my experience has been the opposite. Most older car enthusiasts i know with ferraris, lambos, high end porsches etc actually appreciate the mechanical package and value for money in conversation

Good post !

And quarter of the price, mate build you two for that :P

That 3.0 flat 0 - 100 seems ludicrously fast i would look to the launch control and electronics etc for such fast times as the GT-R is simply too underpowered and too heavy to do that in a classical sense (not that they don't go like stink ! just saying physics is against us!)

First of all, this thread is not about GTR being better than the rest. Simply asking is there a faster car for an airport run.

Second, why does Winton and Wakefield say it all? Does Nurburgring and Top Gear test track mean nothing?

Porsche GT2's are death traps that cost 3 times as much. Rear engine? Grow a brain. I don't feel so bad about having a car that's a fraction of a second slower in the dry and will absolutely kill it in the wet.

I've owned my series I for almost 2 years, no problems at all. And you have got to be seriously delusional if you think anyone can build more reliable cars than the Japs.

As far as if someone can afford better, then get it. I had a McLaren MP-4 12C on order for the end of the year. Cancelled it once I saw the series III. I just don't think it's better. I'll just keep laughing at people who pay through the nose for a brand name and nothing more. They are like school girls staring wide eyed at Louis Vuitton or Chanel. This is a car, not a fashion accessory. Performance should be enough for bragging rights. I'm not stuck in a GTR, I choose it.

I'll buy a more expensive car when the performance justifies it. Not before. Until then, the GTR gives me the performance of a supercar, convenience of a regular coupe and a chance to bank all the money I saved by not buying Ferraris and McLarens to invest in something that will appreciate in value. So when a truly worth hyper expensive car comes along, I'll be able to pay for it more easily.

my chaser can do an airport run quicker then your gtr, fit an extra passanger and carry 2 suitcases and will get more looks then a GTR because of my super cool camry badge

Amazing sounds coming from the Z06 and Mustang, R35 needed an open exhaust

Did not expect the Z06 and GTR to be that close around the circuit - the carbon brake package must really help it along. I was confused at the end with what the presenter said - did he say at the "checkout" the GTR is cheaper than the Z06, meaning fuel? Cause at the start of the video they mentioned the list price was ~70k for the Corvette and ~90k for the GTR?

Is this a joke? I'm not sure

ummm cant you tell its a serious post from my ninja emotican and my super cool camry badge post???

marlin the grown ups left as soon as they saw a thread title "Any Car Faster Than Gtr Good For Airport Run"

You seem awfully reassured buddy.. why bother even posting a thread?

Dude, I'm asking if I missed some cars in my thinking. I started this thread to ask if there's a car that's faster and can let you pick up a friend with luggage from the airport.

I'm not looking for vindication of my choice in motor vehicle. Quite comfortable with my choice and my car.

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
