Carbon Wrapping Anyone

Recommended Posts

My guess Chris is that this is my console that you very kindly gave me the exchange pieces for last Saturday when you installed the iPod connector in the wifes V35. I must give Stephen a call to check, followed by another call to you to see when i can get you to install it!

Hi Andrew,

That's correct, they are your parts, and are ready for you to pick up tonight if you like, i wont have my phone on me until around 4.30pm so you can call me after then, (i called you a minute ago on a different number [not my phone] so if you have a missed call, you know who it was from)

Cheers

Steve

Awesome Steve, I will get away from the city office at 4:30pm so I should be out at your place around just before 5pm, depending on traffic. Will need to talk to you about getting the door handles done too.

Nice.

Is there any drama in taking out the centre console assembly?

Hey Victor, I was very lucky. As I mentioned in an earlier post Chris was installing an iPod connector for me last weekend when I happened to mention my plans on having the console carbon wrapped to cover the "grandpa spec" woodgrain. It just so happened that he had a spare console (the two pieces: auto shift surround & the stereo surround) sitting on the shelf. Chris very kindly gave them to me to give to Stephen @ Wrapture Styling to do his thing & then simply bring it back to Chris for him to install on an exchange basis. Having stood in the workshop whilst Chris took out the dash etc I can say that is a job that seems very easy, especially when someone else is doing it for you! If one is methodical enough in taking it apart & if you can do without your car for a few days then this is the result. I am sure there would be a walk-through on G35Driver for those who want to do the same or maybe Chris would like to type up a "How To Guide" with pics to assist further. I haven't been able to reach Chris yet but I am hoping to have this installed on Saturday if he is free & I can post some more pics when its done.

Thanks, Andrew. Looks good by the way.

Mine is not wood grain, but am thinking of either painting it a different colour or wrapping it like yours in the future.

It would be good if Chris can type up a "How To Guide" so I can get someone in Perth to do it correctly (I don't want to end up with broken-clips. :P )

Victor, its super easy to pull your console out/apart... just methodical... the the bolt behind the dam climate control up the top is easy to forget about :P

Thanks, Cobey.

I am not a DIY guy, so am a Noob when it comes to DIY things. :P

panel for the shifter - not really. that comes straight out.

radio panel - plenty of drama. FK that up and you lose your AC system.

radio removal guide will be a start.

whilst putting up a DIY guide seems like a good idea there are too many things to go wrong if a DIY person breaks something on that radio panel.

if you are smart enough to get the radio out then you should be able to split the rest of it :)

all this went into the car today. we ended up swapping more bits out when the changeover was done.

car had silver centre panel and silver navi controls/screen. those were swapped for black items. the whole layout looks a LOT better.

This is one of the better ones. There's a few differences but close enough to provide help.

Swapping out the navi controls as well as the screen to black units has really transformed the interior. Thanks again to Stephen @ Wrapture Styling for the great job & to Chris for very kindly taking care of the install. Door handles & steering wheel are next. Here are some before & after shots.

That's the one. That's what scare me.

I have to know exactly which place can do it in Perth. :P

look up the user driftt. he's in perth.

Just on the side, unrelated topic - we should compile a V Series directory for our respective States. i.e. - a list of specialists / shops etc we can contact for various things (e.g. Brian from Autotainment in Perth, Chris from Audio Express in Qld etc). Also, there are a few lads with the English Conversion contacts as part of their signature and Chris mentioned a user who does Carbon wrapping etc.. maybe even include them in this pseudo directory. I'm more than willing to type it up if people want to shoot through the contact names and numbers/addresses for various things (I'm not really in-the-know of too many V specialists around Australia). Also probably include the main V series cruise coordinators in our respective States (e.g. Victor for Perth etc)

I'm not sure if this breaches any of the forum regulations for 'advertising' or 'promotion' (or if even such a regulation exists ;) ). Just a thought for now.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yes I can do the carbon wrap but I have other DI-NOC materials including a brushed stainless or a Matt Black among others, also able to do the usually roof and bonnet in Matt or Gloss black and various other vehicle graphics.

Another thing or interest I am doing is 3M's Venture Shield paint protection, image below shows it strength, also doing for Mountain Bikes and Jet Skis among many other things with the WA distributor so full 3M backing.

I do the V35 and M35 translations for WA but unknown to a lot of people I have compliance for M35 and the Cube here in WA.
