I will admit to looking over my shoulder when leaving my car parked at work today... That's all I'd need

...with a sign on the inside of your window that says, "This car is protected by my pet snake 3 days a week - guess which day!"

its a horrible feeling knowing my pride and joy that i put so much effort and worked so hard for is now gone and by the sounds of it i wont get it back from what ive been told its probably been put in a container and will be shipped somewhere overseas. i wouldnt have a clue what car to get next :(

that's silly. Of course you do.

The exact same kind! Although perhaps not mp3...somethi boring and unremarkable. Like white for example :) works for me!

id love to get one again but im so scared now. but i cant think of anything else with that kind of power and handling capabilites around the same price or a bit more.

that is just unbelievable... absolute scum.

they will have definitely scouted your car. have you sold any second hand parts from your current or old car lately? told anyone new where you work?

try to post any details possible about the tow truck, there is a good chance that will appear again somewhere.

i cant recall, but i havnt sold any parts only buying parts. the thing is it could have been anyone working at the shopping centre its a big place for all i know one of the trolley collector guys could be in on it.

there isnt really any great details on the tow truck other than it was a white flatbed tow truck with nothing on it but it did look old and wasnt really in great condition and it had no number plates, the police have footage of it.

This might seem a tad paranoid and all but has anyone else noticed the disturbing trend of SAU forum members having their cars stolen????

We advertise on the forum what we drive, what it's spec's are, what we've got under the bonnet, in the boot and underneather; Lot's of us even advertise where we live down to the suburb, and where we work (without even noticing) perhaps we need to stop sharing so many details publically. I don't think anyone on here would do it but it doesn't stop someone signing up and just watching our posts and virtual garages.

Chanz

scotty i really hope its found and all is well :(

this might seem drastic but chain the wheels to something like a pylon. like, big f**k off big chains

sounds silly but someone trying to cut through those would definitely look sus and attract attention from people

    • The question then becomes - was there any fluid coming from that hole before you did the rebuild ?    You may not have noticed, of course.   Depending on how you did the rebuild, the possibility has to be considered that somehow (cleaning ?)  fluid entered that hole and is now being 'forced'  out by small movements of the proportioning valve.   From the factory, there's actually a small rubber plug in that hole but with age and under-bonnet heat it's quite common for it to 'go missing'.  That rubber plug is designed to allow the venting process but also to prevent 'stuff' getting to the area (prevent corrosion, etc).   The plug is also not available as a spare part AFAIA. Personally I wouldn't race and buy a new master just yet but keep an eye on the area to see if the 'leak' continues.   If you're concerned about brake fluid damaging nearby paintwork, cable tie a piece of suitable absorbant material over the hole and remove/monitor occasionally.    Operation of the proportioning valve and the brake master itself won't be affected, but also keep an eye on brake fluid level, of course. In terms of a new master, the genuine part is getting expensive, unfortunately.  Amayama is showing AUD900+.   I was searching recently and there's an aftermarket part available from Japan made by 'Parts Assist': https://zenmarket.jp/en/yahoo.aspx?q=BNR32%2bBM50&p=1 Whether it's any good I have no idea, although in my experience Japanese aftermarket stuff is pretty good quality-wise.   The above site allows overseas buyers to purchase stuff more easily from Japan but there are fees and shipping costs, of course.   The original Japanese seller page is here: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p1197401228 Copper/Nickel is fine but I still prefer bundy tube and it's also cheaper.
