Not suitable means untested, just a way to protect them from unknown issues that may arise.

I ran my Tomei for a year on e85, and now Artz has it on e85 and petrol with no issues. I would still get the Walbro e85 pump over it, simply as it is half the price.

I should have gone for the NISMO or walbro 400LPH too. Instead I got two wlabro 255 pumps a few weeks apart. One is genuine one turned out a copy. Both cost me around $100. The both seem to flow the same :S. I was thinking of running them together, but I was told I cant run dual 255s on stock wiring. Which draws more power, two 255 pumps, or one 400LPH walbro?

The nismo runs on stock wiring because it has the damn stock connector. So easy.

You think I could sell the two pumps?

I run twin 255's, they are good pumps and will outflow the 400 in twin setups, at much less current. The 400L does like higher pressures though...

Any aftermarket pump should have new thicker wiring run to it, through a fuse and relay, even the Nismo will operate much better with a good power feed.

My reasoning is The 400LPh pump comes with the same gauge as the stock wiring. So clearly that the stock guage can handle it.



If the 400LPH pump draws more than two 255s and the stock guage wiring can handle it, it reasons that two 225s will work on stock wiring as well?



No new wires or relays, just the earth mod to the chassis to keep the voltage from dropping to 9V in an R33 and that's it?

Your not getting it man.

Even if the stock wiring doesn't melt i can almost guarantee that there will a decent amount of voltage drop which is bad news for the walbros as they seem to die often if they don't get a healthy supply.

If your looking at running 2 then you must have a lot of other work planned for the car so whats a few hours to run a new feed with a relay?

For piece of mind don't you its better to do it properly?

The reason is I don't trust myself with electronics and wiring. I am finding the more I touch what doesn't absolutely need to be touched the worse I make the car. It will be the opposite of peace of mind but a complete breakdown. I am fairly sure I will screw something up. Then when I give up and want to go back to stock my oem parts will be butchered, connectors will be broken, wires shortened, I will make a mess, blow stuff up, car will smell on fumes from new wires drilled into thru clips, I will need new wiring harness, oem parts. More money down the drain etc.

Actually I plan to do nothing hardcore with the car as of now. Its more so for future-proofing and to possibly solve a hard to kill pinging problem I am having now even at this basic tune level. I know it contrary to general knowledge but I feel like I am not getting enough fuel with one 255 on a mostly stock car, just boosted. With the stock pump it actually pinged less down low, only up high. With the walbro it seems to have flipped and I'm getting massive pinging down low at 2000-3000rpm at 10psi+. I gotta keep the stock boost or the car rattles its head of. And I Have done everything else I can think of to diagnose the problem beside fuel.

Yea at 10psi you deff don't have a pump probelm, I made 330 kw with the factory pump with no issues.

I agre, but why do so many people, even for basic stage 1 mods list to change out the factory pump for a 255? I've seen people reporting running out of fuel with a walbro at less than than the power you guys are quoting. I wouldn't be surprised if its a downgrade over the stock, especially when considering the sizes of them but Im always told no the walbro is better.

I'm also not saying I disagree with you guys that maybe a bigger pump wont solve my issue, but If a car is pining the first thing you think of is its running lean. So I thought get more fuel in there.. The walbro did nothing to help my pinging issues, but then again it could be flowing less than stock and in addition my stock may have been stuffed.

sounds more like you got a blockage or stuffed injector.. changed the fuel filter?

Is the ECU running the standard tune? What about BOV?

You ain't gonna solve the issue with more pumps.

The fuel filter has been changed about 5 months ago. I will do it again though, just in case.

The ECU is standard. Standard BOV.

I have tried, Fake walrbo 255, and a genuine walbro 255, Car still pings above 9-10PSI or so.

Heres else what I've tried so far in addition to the above.

-New FPR. Brand new nismo item. I have set the pressure way higher than recommended and it still pings.

-Compression test of the engine. All cylinders ~ 147 PSI.

I have tried these spark plugs.

BCPR5ES

BCPR5ES-11

BCPR6ES

BCPR6es-11

BCPR7ES-11

BCPR5ES-11

With BCPR7ES-11 the car didn't ping. But that's not surprising as it was abysmally slow. Easily a 130Hp or more drop over the bcpr5es.

Car runs best on BCPR5ES-11. Currently have BCPR6ES-11 in there for a safety buffer, even though I prefer the 5s.

-Currently running yellow jacket coils.

-New coil pack wiring harness.

-New AFM.

-New CAS.

-Fitted bigger intercooler.

Whats next? Bigger injectors and Aftermarket ECU and a tune right? But thats many many thousands I shouldn't need to spend just to run a stock car at 10psi. Nor can I.

Very frustrating.

They need to be cleaned in an ultrasonic bath of cleaning solution, with the gauze filter in the end removed, back flushed, then flow tested. With the right equipment you could set up a jig but it would cost a lot more than $150.

In regards to the Nismo pump, I'm running one on e85 with no problems at all. I stayed away from your standard Walbro pump just from the fact that they have a higher tendency to fail. I know a few guys who have had problems after a period of time.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year. 
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
