The good thing is that he doesn't abuse people when they are wrong; rather, he points out their mistakes and goes about trying to help those people correct them.

I'm visit quite a few (car and non-car related) forums, and it's people like Sydneykid who are respected.

Gary gets my thumbs up. Thanks Mate.

I may even be considering a new career that I had never really been considered if things work out and I get to the Claude Rouelle seminar and workshop.

Although this sounds a little like an obituary.."god forbid" I'll throw in my 2.2cents inc GST.

Hi Bass Junky, You Said

"I would like to start a thread"

I have tested this method using a biometric actuating meta-data analyser, and have come up with following formula..

URGENT THREADS: Use 49.1% Methanol and 50.9% Spit

NON URGENT THREADS: 16.6% Spit 83.4% Vic Bitter, this is only if you cant remember the thread you were looking for, the technical term is also know as - Being Blotto -

(I would recommend storing a 1ltr bottle of spit connected to your PC via USB/Firewire, and attach a waterspray kit similar to that from Autospeed)

"To appreciate the acknowledge, guideance and wisdom that SydneyKid bestows opon us on a daily basis."

We use a similar theory for track racing, when we are loosing I run around the track bestowing my appreciation, acknowledgement, guidance and wisdom to all opposing competitors, by using a few formula's I created:

A= Grab the biggest mofo mirror you can find, aim it at the sun & point it in their eyes.

this has proved to work effectively, in the case this fails, we use alternative plans of attack.

B= Dump some oil in their path (just make sure your driver knows were you dumped it.)

C= One of crew dresses up as a marshall and waves the black flag

D= Cut across the track and ram the crap out of the other competitors until your in first place.

Hi MIC33R, You Said

"yep, without SK, I wouldn't know half as much as I now do about Skylines or even cars in general."

:( I'd like to start with the reason why you didn't know that much. I have pretty good success using this formula to determine the reasons;

Brain in lbs per minute = diameter of cells in mm X knowledge correction factor

So let's apply it to you;

300kw @ the brain = 480 brain power

480 brain power = 44 lbs of airflow = 44 mm of brain

Now if you want to run 19 psi of air through your mouth, then that's means you'll need to read that amount of my threads.

But we need to apply the brain boost correction method....

My experience indicates that to get 300kw @ the brain, out of a newB sau member you would need to run around 1.5 bar (22psi). So using the formula...

44 / 22 X 19 = 88mm of brain. In other words, you're only half way there.

Summing up, I think you guys have a numbers of problems, mainly your mouths are to small to soak up the grog and your fat % per capacity intake is too much, So you guys get Blotto on the smell of grog. To bypass this I would recommend springing your "mouth" using a 2bar mouthgate & attach an non returning blow off valve through the anal passage.

Hope that makes sense.

Lastly this message is dedicated to SK, thanks to you and many on SAU for your contributions.

I pretend, I don't own or work for a workshop

But I do know everything

lol, Gary is definately an asset!

But so are others... Steve/B-Man for being sorta guinea cops at some stages.

And doughboy and rev, they got some brain power there too!

Maybe dedicate it to ALL the people who are very knowledge filled :(

It does make for good conversations at times with the opinions of different people around here. And different expiriances etc,

Sure gets some informative debate going.

Gary's an ace. everytime i send him a PM, it would come flooding back with answers/comments and great advice.

its rare to find someone like him who is so readily to share his knowledge.

kudos to Gary again.

btw - is he reading this or is he too busying helping someone out again? :(

    • Shouldn't need a "base map" for anything other than guidance to ignition tuning. You just need the engine capacity right, the injector size right, and something, almost anything, for a VE map. On an NA engine, fuelling is almost completely a function of load signal & rpm. It should run and drive with a completely flat fuel map. It will be too lean under load, but that's easily fixed. We used to tune all ECUs without any base map. There were no such things (until someone had tuned a near stock engine on one, and then they had a "base map".
    • What did you actually buy/how much did it cost? When I got mine in like.. 2017...? 2019? the aim was to run Torque for gauges via ODB2 and things like Track Addict/Laptimers/Dashcam/Reversecam/Spotify etc. Mine never broke, but I wonder if you've got the same needs (it sounds like it). Cause I liked the idea of being able to do anything with it. That said, yours also cost 3x the cost of what I spent so... food for thought.
    • For me there is a massive difference in manufacturer or big brand crippled android (Sony, Kenwood etc) vs the sort of thing I've installed here, which is basically just a tablet in DIN form factor with open Android, and the other model of course is mirroring - Android Auto/Carplay. I hate the locked down manufacturer and AA options where they decide what apps I'm allowed to install, including the Launcher but also importantly things like Ecutek (for this car) or Real Dash (Stagea) are not supported. Plus those crippled versions tend to be slower due to both overheads and lower spec hardware. On the other hand, when this breaks I'll likely be in trouble for support....but how is that different to owning an Infiniti anyway
    • Yeah, Duncan is helping sell me back to Android devices. I've hated the whole Android head units due to their speed issues. Even in my old Hyundai Kona (2022 model), it behind the scenes was Android, and slow and shitty to start up. Once running wasn't bad, but still a good 15 to 30 seconds.
    • My roof rails are off atm on the E39 until the rust is fixed. I did find another little bit of surface rust under the rails when I took them off. As @soviet_merlin said I'd just leave them alone unless you're planning on ensuring they're properly sealed. I was on the fence about leaving them off as the delete is still a thing in BMW E39's but I feel like the car is missing something (er, it is, der) with them off and I'm looking forward to putting them back on.
