So with the recent rise of Skyline's being stolen in Victoria I was wondering if anyone has car insurance on their dedicated track car?

Mine is garaged at my house and I'm sure most are garaged permanently somewhere. I only ask on the basis of theft. Not trying to claim damaged that may happen on the track.

Cheers.

sorry it's been too long....but the premium is only a few hundred, not a few thousand like usual. And they know it's security system

and yes agreed value. $35k lol. And they've replaced 2 windscreens for me over the years too

I just insured the Radical on Friday with Shannons:

60k agreed value

Laid up policy (no registration) - insures it for any situation where the car is not running ie in storage, on the trailer, in the paddock etc

$650

MX5 is with them too.

but its road registered on ltd use.

OAMPS brokers also do race car only (not on track of course)

Ben = give shannons and or oamps a call - you'd be suprised how affordable it could be for that sort of cover.

and for everyone else - as an FYI - no one will cover on the race track!

correction...shannons now have 'racing extension'.

this covers damage on your car other than mechanical upto $20k for any racing sanctioned by a racing body (cams etc).

as an illustration, a car insured for $35k will cost around $800 for race only (laid up cover) insurance, and the additional racing extension cover will cost you $2200.

unsure of the excess on the racing extension...likely another 1k or something.

yeah best bet is shannon with laid up cover. my track car not currently road driven is on that. so basically covers you for damage in the garage (someone drops something on it etc), theft from the garage, damage on a trailer or theft, etc. doesn't cover you while you're driving it at all though. but it's very affordable and good piece of mind.

tk80 - I wont get into much details - but they will do it for classic race cars and even then it has to be referred to a regional manager

its not an "off the shelf" policy and not something the'll offer to anyone and everyone.

hence why I said

nee-san - thats ebcause he is sponsored by them!

Ben - yeah man give em another go!

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
