There was a mob who was working NA RB engines in the mid 90s and was getting huge power out of them.

There is no reason why you cant improve the performance of those engines!

True, but with the ease and cost of turbocharging, seems to be the easy way out.

My dads let me off the hook now..its been more than 6 months, no fines, no accidents.....sold the r33....and have a GTR 32 on the way......:-)

Hopefully wont loose 2 much cars anymore..

:uhh: 6 months in a n/a R33 and u'r gonna step to a R32 GTR? i think ur dad has a lot more faith than i prob would.

I was going to buy (yep, me) a R33 GTS-T at 18, but dad said no, so i'm 20 now and currently in the importing process for a R34 GT-T. I can't say i've had any real scares in the 1991 Pulsar 1.6ltr (touch wood) but i think the extra few years of putting around in a little hatch has been pretty valuable. I just make sure i do the simple things, and make them second nature.

Eyes always on the road (like most ppl, have learnt where all the buttons on the radio are)

Check blind spots

If raining, leave a larger gap

Hopefully the 2 or so years i've had the pulsar, and the experienced i've gain will help me with the R34 GT-T. But i think the first order or business will be a driving course (skidpan, etc)

hope u have fun and are careful with the GTR :D

cheers.

Yeah true true....6 months is not a lot....but I did learn 4 about 1year and 11 months on a GTST r33, so really i've had about 2 years and 5 months experience....but only 6 months on my own. SO i think i can handle the power.....although GTR is different to a GTST, but isnt it in a way safer considering its AWD, and better handling?

I'm sure u'll find out soon enough if u can handle the power or not.

I would say in a GTST it would be safer to drive in terms of power and handling. A GTR is NOT constant awd, it will only apply power to the front wheels if there is a loss of traction. A GTR is predominantly RWD, therefore quite similar to a GTST the majority of the time, but with significantly more power.

I would think (in theory) a GTST would be safer because if you start to lose it in a GTST you would back off the throttle and hopefully be able to steer out of trouble. If the same happened in a GTR, i would suspect thet best thing to do was to keep the power down, therefore let ATESSA help u by providing power to the front wheels? But in a scray situation the last thing you'd prob be thinking about was to step on the gas.

I haven't even driven a RWD Turbo, so you've got more experience than me. Maybe some of our GTST come GTR owners, or those who have driven both can shed a bit more light on this?

cheers

remember when comparing gtst vs gtr drivetrain. if you take corner XYZ (at an intersection say turning right) from standard start and give it some stick you'll hang your nuts out and power slide around it, perfect sideways if done correctly in an r33 with some good tyres.

however if you did the same exercise in a gtr about say 30%-40% through executing the maneuvour when you get wheelspin the attesa system will detect this and apply upto 40% of its torque to the front wheels, so what will happen is just over half way through your power slide / going sideways your front wheels will grip and have 40% more torque, when greater than 0 its a lot. so your wheels will be pointing on say a 45degree angle and suddley they apply power, youll end up in the gutter or over the kerb most likely as you wont expect it to happen. i would have to try it but thats the sorta results i would expect.

or at least a random snakey at the end from the front wheels gripping when unexpected vs gtst doing a perfect slide and resuming control.

i could be wrong, but here is what i believe would happen with attessa. mid way through iit will snap and dump power to the front, possible resulting in a sudden veer as your wheels are still pointing 45degrees ish

If your on your P's in melbourne your prolly going to exceed the power/weight restriction. Is something like 125kw per tonne. My Gtst rego says 1200 tare (suspect is heaveir), and with 125kw/tonne regulation limits you to 150kw or so.

Everyone trashes their first car, do you really want to experience that in a skyline? Insurance is going to kill you too.

    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
