no joke if you pull up next to a murcielago in your gallardo

boxster owners know the feeling

GTR and Lambo They are all considered supercars...

Ok i personally wouldnt consider a boxster a super car. And even if it is considered one, Real Supercars Are fast.... Boxsters? I dont think so... probably a Wrx would beet it with slight boost and an exhaust.

Honestly the R35 doesnt look all that good in photos but when you see them up close they just want to rip your balls off then spit in your face.

100% right, In pictures for some apparent reason it doesnt look crazy, But in real life, DAMMM they look beasty

Supercars are meant to be sleek, over the top, big engines, scary handling, destined future classics, built with all manner of exotic materials, borne with the design brief to be as extrovert as possible and have the world stop when you park and the door opens

The gallardo simply fills a gap in the market and is made the cheapest way possible through sharing of Audi parts chiefly to fund the continual development of the v12 line. It is not a supercar

Likewise the GTR built on a modified 370z chassis with a vinyl interior ain't no supercar either

If you're harping on lap times than you've missed the point of what a supercar is all about

So you're the one who give the manufacturers the criteria for the building of super cars.

I personally think the term "Supercar" has evolved over the years.

I think these days the term Supercar is based upon performance - and the original definition of a Supercar has now evolved into the term Exotics.

So for me - is the R35 a Supercar - yes.

Is it an Exotic - no. (Same for the Gallardo - especially say the Super Alphabets etc)

But again - this is really a topic which is every mans own opinion.

topic calls for personal opinion mate

if you can't accept, move right along

Couldnt agree more mate. Strangely enough I think the gtr ticks all thos boxes and then adds another dimension in performance and handling.

I thought that any car that was expensive and can cut through a racetrack like lightning was considered supercar? not whether its was considered an exotic....

I think a question would be - if an R35 and a Gallardo are not Supercars, then does Ferrari currently make a single Supercar?

Ruh-Roh

True but that might be pre-2010.

I like the new Topgear clarification (or was it Motor?). What you described may now be called a hypercar, and supercars are simply REALLY fast sports cars. But I'm not comfortable calling a GTR a supercar, perhaps a super car but not a supercar.

This topic sucks, and it's gone from talking about how a bunch of people were apparently oogling over a 35 instead of a Lambo, to a thread about "what constitutes a Supercar" debate, which is pointless, because since the R35 arrived, the lines have been blurred.

Does the 35 "look" like a traditional Supercar in my opinion? A definate no. But, does it PERFORM like one? Absolutely!

So to me, the R35 is kind of like a "Super Sports Car".... definately above a 911 Carrera S, but lacking the "wow' factor looks wise, and simply too practical as an every day car, to make the step into the "Supercar" ranks.

Stuff like an Enzo isn't a Supercar.... it's a Hypercar.

Stuff like 458/Gallardo etc, are at the bottem end of the Supercar genre, whilst Mucielago etc is toward the top.

It's kind of funny that the harder the car is to live with, the more "Super" or "Hyper" it becomes :)

Really, if we were all sane, these fancy cars should all be labelled 'Shit Cars", because they're not actually very good at being cars..... a Falcon on the other hand... that's a Super-car :D

LOL - I had actually been reminiscing over the old "Supercar Club" days and was thinking how apparently that was poorly named since it turns out pretty much none of them are Supercars now.

But perhaps the one exception would be the Ford GT40 - which looked awesome, sounded awesome but was pretty horrible to actually drive on the roads.

So perhaps that's the definition? Look great, sound great but you really don't want to drive one anywhere. :)

Your WRONG Marlin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Holden is much better at being a Super car than a Ford. Ford is just plain old shit that still uses leaf spring suspension which reminds me of a cart pulled by donkeys in a village :)

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
