Lol.

It's not THAT bad to start E85 in Winter, not in Sydney anyway. Canberra might be a different story.

I had plenty of cold start issues in Melbourne when using 85%, mainly due to the electronic throttle and not being able to flood the car on startup. I had to fit a secondry petrol primer to get it to fire in winter. No issues like that on Eflex and its cheaper so I know what I will be running in a few months.

Ye sorry you've sorta missed a "in" joke from a few years back.

Basically the owner of Sucrogen got on here being a ripe tawt, saying pump E85 is a waste of time.

So that you should buy "his" stuff as it's "so much better".

I mean no doubt it is, but at almost double the price of from the local bowser... Not really viable for anyone with a car that gets used regularly. Plus you then needed somewhere to store said drums...

Have a read if you want a laugh: Click Me

yup and back to back testing proved the "actual" difference was negligible.... still got a few drums of the "super special" E85 still laying there....

I will give you $1.10 a litre for it Trent. lol.

Flash point of E100 is 13-14 degress so if the temperature is lower than that you will struggle.

Brockas over here in Perth is running E100 (he gets it cheap), I don't think there is any gain over using an E85 or even an E42 mix. He hasn't had issues starting in winter but almost always garages the car so the ambient temp would be higher than 13-14degress.

When he did leave it over night at the track one time it took a lot of coaxing to start in the morning.

My E42 has never had an issue no matter what the temperature, pretty much fires first or second crank unless the battery is flat :)

Cold start on e85 is no issue even e100 but you need to have pulse and crank ms specific adjustments to get ti first crank everytime... scotty your start issues would have stemmed from the fact the emanage does not have it, some of the nistune model definitions (most models are there r32, s13 etc) are yet to extract this data also.

i take it vipec or link is in the works?

I have a HKS solution for now unfortunately, yet to get it running though. I reached the limits of the EMU the day it was installed but its done me well.

Would love a Link G4 Extreme... Got one laying around I can try out? :worship:

I have been filling at United for the last 3 tanks, its more expensive at 10c less than unleaded and then I need to put a little 98 in also to drop the ethanol percentage until I get a tune. It definitely smells better though. I will let you know when I get it back on the dyno.

keen to hear how you go, hallam united is almost next door to me!

Do you guys know if it's Ok to keep E85 in Jerry cans for about two weeks? Or will it start absorbing too much water?

I had stuff sealed in red jerry cans from the SAU Nationals in November and used it mid January and it run sweet az! The car was actually tuned on it too :) Not saying that is the case for all cans but these ones seal airtight so they did the job nicely!

Had 60 litres in 3 jerry cans sitting on blocks of wood from Jan last year. Stuck it in the car in November and it was fine. The sensor read E86 from memory.

Damn you and your united! I havent had any higher than E72 :(

Is caltex making the eflex blend e85 in summer or have people noticed its constantly around e70 throughout winter and summer?

I put 22 ish litres on my car on Saturday from the Moorebank Caltex. I had bugger all fuel in the tank (the light would have been coming on soon) and that was sitting at E86. After those 22 litres it dropped down to E 77 or E76. So clearly not "E85"... well atleast not at Moorebank. Fkn Jerks!

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
