I have two bootlids, one is plain, the other has the std R34 GTR wing on it. I only did a 6-8 laps at Winton with the rear spoiler and I dont think it makes much of a difference. When I get a chance I want to throw the wings and boot lids on a trailer and test one day at Winton...since I am moving to within a 45min drive of Winton for a project there are going to be plenty of Friday practices that I run down for

Uhuh. I have two boots as well, one with replica 32 GTR wing and Nismo lip, other with ARC alloy wing with adjustable gurney flap. ARC defs creates more rear downforce, but unbalanced it front to rear (I don't have a front splitter).

Suprisingly, adding the Nismo lip to the stock GTR wing made a noticable difference. Evidently creates a high pressure zone atop the boot lid.

Well, I have a front undertray, though its not on the car at the moment as it makes a wheel alignment a pain and I need to get the car aligned and the oil cooler installed properly as the panel beater all that time ago didnt have the time to mount it properly. Also makes it a pain to get to the brake air guides etc which I can now finally finish because the Stoptechs are on and never coming off

So when the boot lid goes on I will have the undertray on

I have an undertray/skid plate, it made a small improvement but no match for "big wing like Mig fighter jet" (Russian accent)

I hope to get the mojo to make a front splitter extension about 4/5 inches to actually get some front downforce, rather than just trying to minimise lift.

you want voltex wing big boy. bit expensive but heaps good white man magic.

either that or use the C-West GT wing II - Suzuka like what I sold berry for his R34 (in it's V1 guise). they make R34 bolt on version and it works bloody well.

Thanks for the heads up.

It would be good if I could put a leading edge lip on the front of my undertray. Will e easy to do, only problem is I drive my car daily so god knows the Cossie is a nightmare being only 50mm off the ground...dont want the R32 to be the same so would have to be removable for daily driving duties....the ideal solution I have is too expensive so wont go there :)

if you've got two boot lids, so who cares how many holes there are in one of them?

I'm sure expensive Voltex wings are very good, but my $300 CF China wing worked well enough to totally transfom my car from near uncontrolable oversteer to plough understeerer in back to back sessions on the same day not touching anything else on the car. While only costing ~3kph in top speed, but that was into a headwind that day... And it dented the hatch in on my 180SX. I went 7 tenths quicker than before on those tyres, while being very compromised by understeer. If you could balance that out with front aero, you'd easily make at least that much time again. probably more. If a $3000 Voltex wing works better, its only going to make your life more difficult to get enough front aero.

The gurney flap would make a difference. But a dual plane wing is technically a better solution. You need one of these...but woudl cost waaaaay more

But, truth is I dont pretend to know that much about aero. To me its all wank for 99% of us. We end up with ugly cars with parachutes attached...but there are a few basic concepts that seem best to follow

    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
