I flash for all EXCEPT RBT's.

As much as I do not appreciate the vast majority of work cops do on our roads, its a fight you will never win. I do however respect an RBT station, I know Ive driven home after 2 drinks and can say it SEVERLY effected my ability to drive. So much so that I now refuse to drive beyond one beer, no matter if I am legal or not.

I have come to the life conclusion that alcohol is a bag of shit and RBT's genuinly keep our families safe.

Speed traps and cameras, along with all other forms of time wasting revenue based crap, can suck a fat one.

flashing for rbt is no different to speed traps. think about it. if they can see it, why flash? and if they cant, its usually too late for them to turn around anyway. if they do its probably gonna be noted by the cops at the rbt.

if they cant see it, a warning might stop some idiot doing 15k over while playing with his stereo from ploughing into the back of the line.

also the not flashing euros is tall poppy syndrome pure n simple. youse all jelly brah(s). in the end, flashing is supposed to be a warning of road hazard, be it cops, radar, or a fallen tree

Of course we are. doesnt make the rage any less pure..wheres my 2011' BMW M3? eh? i keep checking the driveway but it still aint there...

agree with the sentiments on RBT's i have little sympathy for anyone caught drunk driving, that shiat should be stowed quick smart, as harsh as the zero alcohol thing is for P platers is it sure instills good habits.

I am a little iffy on the drug testing though, the number of false positives i have seen on 'RBT' is ridiculous..

I will often flash.

Drove down the Hume Hwy to 'Berra on the weekend, Highway Patrol had backed their car right up into a little nook to get unsuspecting people coming the other way - but the Hume has such a huge median separation flashing would be ineffective. I realised on the trip back to civilisation (NSW) later at night that the big median is great though so you can use high beam and not affect oncoming traffic...

was that at the bottom of the big dipper near Mittagong? they are always there, pretty much impossible to warn anyone as well as they are usually facing up hill and traffic is well separated by the medium and the blind corner before the hill starts climbing. Pretty dumb to fly up or down there and i have seen half a dozen people pulled over there, i only drive out that way 7 or 8 times a year depending on how many track days im doing too.

Theres a few other 'hides' but its such a long distance it takes a while to spot them all, kinda makes the journey a little more interesting though, like watching out for bandits or an ambush (which is not too far off from reality IMHO).

Flashing headlights:

Pro's -

Its Australian :ermm:

Con's -

It's illegal.

It may slow a speeding driver. Big deal. It also warns every other crim on the road what is ahead. What if the next car you flash is the drunk or stoned driver, or the stolen car, or the uninsured driver that goes on to hit you, a friend or family.

Actually I think it was closer to the ACT, near Collector and Lake George. But one should expect the Hume / Federal Highway / Highway 1 to be loaded with Hwy Patrol I think.

Ambush on the highway...

sounds like the Pro's outweigh the cons to me...

oh and cool video God-speed, i remember a whole bunch of those got done by BMW in the early noughties, big stars, famous directors etc. wonder why they stopped?

Tru dat about the hume highway, i think 80% of my tickets are along the stretch near Goulburn..my head..wall.

i don't. the way i see it is that there are too many morons on the road that casually speed where ever they go. many of them could do with a bit of a wake up call.

+ 1

also for this reason though:

Some really bad people have been caught over the years because of such simple things like a random traffic stop/ticket etc.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
