So I've Finally got around to building a RB30DET for THE-31 which is my Aus Spec R31 TI Which was bought new back I'n the day by my grand parents and handed down.

So what i acutely want to know with MY set up (not someone else's) is what power figures i would be looking at? What are my Restrictions? And what are my weak points?

Here is what i have.

Block:

- RB30E

- Bored 40Thou Over

- ACL Forged Pistons

- ACL Rods

- ACL Big & Small Bearings

- ACL Gasket/Seal Kit

- N1 Oil Pump

- STD Crank

- STD Water Pump

- Underdriven Harmonic Balancer

- STD Sump

Head:

- RB25DET

- Ported & Polished

- STD Valves

- Stronger Springs

- STD Lifters

- Tomei Poncams 256 In/Ex

- Works Adj Cam Gears

- Greddy Copy Plenum

- Q45 Throttle Body

- Stainless Hi Mount

- HKS Waste Gate

- GT35/40 With AR.70/ M24 Front Housing

- Split Fire Coil Packs

- MLS 4 Layer Head Gasket

- VRS Gaskets/Seals

Fuel:

- Bosch 044

- 2L Surg Tank

- Denso 880CC Inj

Also Have:

- RB25DET Gear Box

- Apexi Powrer FC

- 3in Exhaust

- 3in Stainless Dump Pipe

- 600x300 Front Mount

By the looks of that youre pretty much sorted.

On thing I can pick is using the ctandard con-rods which will limit you to around 7000rpm and be safe

and the N1 oil pump measn you wont be able to do rev limiter skids

Apart from that and it isnt a biggie is that stainless high mount manifolds like to crack, and the cheap ones tent to have boost control issues.

As Zebra said, I think your limiting factor will be your pistons/rods (depending on how much boost and the fuel you want to run). IIRC the ACL "forged" pistons are not actually forged - I could very well be wrong, but I remember reading something along the lines of this in the RB30 thread...

Also to note - be wary of the condition of your valve-train (lifters mainly!). I may be having issues with my setup caused by ageing valvetrain or insufficient spring stiffness/seating pressure. At an absolute minimum get your head reco'd whilst its off and out of the car.

Thanks For the input fella's.

Ive had the car running with the bottom end set up how it is for awhile now just With a RB30et running probably 200Rwkw.

The piston are 8.5cr, the rods are ACL but not H-Beam or anything, i was fairly sure the pistons were forged??

The heads got new valves and stronger springs and was recod but the same can't be said for the lifters :/

Any idea of power figures?

Two things I will mention, I just got some Reimax gears for my N1 pump, for AU$430 delivered it would be something to think about doing.

Get a decent sump just for safetys sake, I run an ASR 6.5L baffled/gated item.

Power? Probably looking at ~350rwkw?

Do you have the VCT connected and running? Is that a Garrett 35/40 or a copy ( I thought Garrett woulkd be .63 rather than 70 exhaust).

Should make 350kw ok maybe more with a really good tune. 3.5 or 4in exhaust would be good.

What about a pic of your mint one owner car?!!

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
