Lol. Someone came back :D.

How far is your workshop from rydges at north Sydney? We have a credit for $300 to stay there from last year when we were supposed to come down but my wife got pregnant and we didn't feel comfortable flying. I'm considering driving down so you can do my tuning.

Oh dear. If you can't tell the difference between foot pounds and nm you're screwed. Id get someone else to assemble...

Also, there is a special tool that you use to file rings.

How the hell did you do it?

I thought you were actually starting to do well... until.

I wouldnt be sure of myself with a fresh built engine, Id get someone experienced to this stuff just so I know its done right, the money spent on engaging someones experience now will be money and worry saved in the long run...

How were you going to drive down to sydney area to get the car tuned, would that mean you would be driving it all that way untuned?

doesnt sound like a good idea to me...

I read the wrong side of the torque wrench. It was only the oil filter mount and thermostat housing anyway.

I'm getting it put on a dyno before I drive it to make sure the tune is safe for running it in. And I was going to hold the wastegate open for run in anyway.

Wat?

You need pressure in the cylinder to bed the rings.

I was thinking the same thing Wolverine, I admit I have made mistakes in the past but the less people that know them the better. lol.

When asking for help its good for you all to know what has happened up until now. I've got nothing to hide. I admit I made some mistakes but it's all a learning curve.

The only concern I have is that I may have a few dog hairs in my engine, I think everything else has worked out ok.

Trust me I will be doing minimal driving until its tuned properly. With a baby on the way I can't afford to do this again.

How long does it take to run in an engine on a dyno vs in the road. Liked if I get my tune checked, I might just go for a late night mountain drive. I'm thinking mt nebo and mt mee and mt cootha all in one night. That should get me my 200km before the first oil change.

Yeah I'm using the hypergear atr43 ss-1. Going to run 14psi or as low as possible if I can't get the low.

Ok kewl, il plug it and if there is an error il know why, this big earth terminal plate is driving me nuts too.

    • Am I correct in assuming that the R35's are getting the classic skyline haircut off the odometer?  Quick search on carsales, there are 33 08 and 09 GTR's for sale, only 2 of them have more then 100,000km's on them (116,075 and 110,000 respectively).  And somehow there are about 25 for sale with around 60,000kms? Looks like the classic skyline haircut to me =/
    • @Stringycheese  Have you only gone to the one blue slip workshop?  There will be a heap of them where ever you live, good odds that the next place you go to will pass the car.  Unfortunately (or fortunately?) every blue slip / engineering workshop will be different and will be happy passing or failing different things - despite working from the same set of rules. It's kinda like 2 lawyers arguing over a piece of legislation, each saying their interpretation is correct. Might seem strange that this happens when it comes to getting a modified car passed, but this is very much a thing. A big part of the game is finding an engineer / workshop that is on the same page as you.
    • Bah. I daily mine. ~60km per work day, 10-12 thousand km per year. What's the point of having a dirty old Datto and leaving it in the shed. It needs to be driven and enjoyed while the govco allows us to do so. It will only be a few years before we're forbidden to even start up internal combustion engines.
    • Judging by that spring perch and the normal looking spring on it - not a coilover. Well.... it is a coilover, just a stock format coilover, rather than what everyone calls a coilover.
    • Yes it is. We get stock from Nismo directly. I'm happy to take photos/video of it as proof before I ship it with timestamps or whathaveyou.
