Two months ago, my V35 Airbag light started flashing. I did the reset procedure and it hasn't come back on since.

It seems quite common in Nissans to get false positives but if you've done the reset procedure correctly, definitely get it checked out

well mine keeps coming back on. 2004 sedan . I did the procedure 3 times now. and it comes back after a while. does anybody know what might need replacing? air bag modules? doe sthe g35 part work

There is no way we can answer that question. you need to have the airbag codes read to find out what it triggering the light.

The anti-submarine units in the seats seem to be a common issue, but until you get the codes read, you won't know for sure.

From what i have heard, you can't buy these units separate from the seat.

thats what i got told too....apparently its a two yellow cords under the seat that get stretched or pulled out (couldnt quite hear the guy as the signal was crap over the phone) but i did the on off trick and it hasnt come back....yet

Can someone advise me on how to reset the airbag light flashing? It is not really that clear how to fix it from what I have read here. I had a new car stereo put in yesterday & now all of a sudden the airbag light is flashing.

Method A:

1) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)

2) After the AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.

3) Wait 4 seconds

4) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)

5) After the AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.

6) Wait 4 seconds

7) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)

8) After the AIR BAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.

9) Wait 4 seconds

10) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)

11) Wait 3 seconds

12) Turn IGNITION off

13) Wait 2 seconds

14) START Car (the light may be blinking slower than before)

15) Wait 3 seconds

16) Turn IGNITION off

17) Wait 3 seconds

18) START Car

Method B:

To reset the light simply turn the iginition to the on position, (you dont need to start it). All the lights should stay on for thier diagnostic check. As soon as the airbag light goes off, before it starts flashing, immeditatly turn the car off. Repeat this 3 or 4 times (turning to on then off) and the light should go away

clearing the error only treats the symptom, not the cause.

You need to find out what is triggering the error.

The unit under my passenger seat was causing problems with mine, the light would come on once every couple of months. I tried cleaning the connectors and cable tieing the wiring in place, none of this worked.

I ended up dismantling each connector and soldering the wiring into the connector pins, cleaning up the pins and re-assembling. I haven't had a problem in over 6 months now.

I would offer to help, but I have no idea where you are located James. You need to get it on a Consult 3, even the above procedure doesn't work often to reset the light, and the code is still logged in the ecu.

I think all have the unit under the seat. it isn't an airbag in the traditional sence, but more of an 'anti submarine' device which stops you sliding out underneath your seatbelt in an accident, but it is still part of the airbag system, so will throw the same warning light if there is an issue.

Anti submarine rams... I have yet to see these. How many yellow wires were under there?

All the cars I have worked on had only one pair of yellow wires, and these just go to the switch under the seat to tell the airbag module there is a person sitting in the seat.

They are on mine, and I probably made a bad assumption that they all have them.

I have completly stripped my drivers seat to repair the broken lifter bracket and there is no switches, just a long tube across the front of the seat with airbag/explosive warnings on it, and a single yellow harness, but from memory, it had more than 2 wires.

The passenger side has the same thing. Although I haven't stripped the passenger side seat to the same extent as the drivers side, the module and harness looks the same.

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
