What does your car run at wakefield park?

because I know of some sub 200kw S13s that run 1:08-1:09 round there easily

Are we talking track s13s or road registered dailys? I don't doubt they do in any case im sure theres a quicker GTR

How much do you think the quicker GTR's cost?

Don't get me wrong I would love a GTR...bang for buck there are better cars if you want performance.

Like I said earlier, buy one because you want to

Indeed if all you want is a car for the traffic light GP a modded XR6 Turbo, VE SS or Clubby will be much better bang for your buck than an R34 GTR.

The R32-R34's arent the be all and end all of performance anymore. With an average driver behind the wheel like myself a car like a G6E Turbo Falcon would smash a R34 GTR in a straight line 9 times out 10 because you have to get every gear change perfect to win in the R34, in the Falcon you have a ZF auto to do practically everything for you.

Like Zebra said buy a Skyline if your an enthusiast not because you want to be king of the road.

Fair call sir, i'm just sick for them I guess

With this logic, an early nineties automatic Honda NSX is of a higher quality than a R34 GT-R.

The price of a used car is driven by the same thing as everything else, supply and demand. If R34 GT-Rs were as common as R33 GTS-ts I think one could pick one up for no more than $20,000

... my apologies when i stated "competitors" i meant other Skylines or similar front engined turbo powered 4WD cars & not mid engined 2WD supercars - oops - sorry 'bout that ! -:)

OP, if you're looking for a fast car for that price range bmw m3's and porsche boxters can be found for 50k, I haven't driven either, but I would test drive as many options as possible before handing that much cash over. If you drive them all and buy the 34 gtr you'll be even happier with the decision

Im so glad R34 GTR's are over priced like they are at least you dont get absolute tools and di*kwads driving them on a daily basis like the taxi's s15's and gts-t's have become.

I dont mean to be disrespectful to the silvia or gts-t owners but the legitemately nice and well built ones are outweighed by the POS's with dose pipes and 20's simply cause "OMGG ITS A SKYLINE".

If it where up to me I wish 34 GTR's where double the price. The loan i would need to take out will help me sleep at night knowing that I own an exclusive car with a bunch of enthusiasts and not some f*cking tools and pretenders

lols were had at self pwnage

Haha, I dont know there's something about the R34 GTR or any GTR for that matter that makes it mythical in a way. We can all say this SS will beat it on the straight or some s13 will take it on the track (not really), but when a car has a nickname like Godzilla, how do you compare a commodore to Godzilla? My uncle recently bought a 09 Shelby GT500 Mustang for 140k, only 2 in Australia and really theres history behind that car but I said to him sure its a nice car, still doesnt do it for me like a GTR. They are just a legendary vehicle and worth every cent and obviously people agree as to why we have to pay that much because they still buy them. If one person that forked out for one can tell me they fully regret it I'll chop it because chumps dont buy R34 GTRs, real enthusiasts do.

... i totally agree with you ...

... especially the bit about the Commodore & Godzilla ... comparing 6.0Lt RWD Auto V8's to 2.6Lt Attessa equipped twin turbo S6's is silly ... yes theyre both cars with 4 wheels a roof a boot & a bonnet but thats about where the similarities end ... i dont hate Holdens my first car was a Holden ... its just that for me they just dont have the qualities that i look for in a "driving experience" ... also call me old fashioned but the one thing that SS Commodores & FTV Falcons have that i would never accept in a million years in my "driving experience" is a "sporty" car with 4 doors ... correct me if im wrong but i cant think of anywhere else in the world that would badge an SS (super sport) or GT (grand touring / gran turismo) vehicle that has 4 doors ?! ... 2 door coupes naturally evolved for the sporting motorist because they behave better on the road as they are more compact lighter & more rigid ...

... but to be fair Holden has had the Monaro in its stables since the 1960's ... unfortunatley Ford USA saw Australia as such a small market it wouldnt "tool up" the Ford Plant here for a Falcon coupe even though they had a 2 door version of their own ... thats why the 1968 XT Falcon GT had 4 doors & by default so did the 1972 Falcon GTHO Phase 3 & every Falcon GT or FPV since (excepting the XC Cobra) ... the new Holden & Ford top end "sporty spaceships" like the Clubsport & GT BOSS are more muscle than sport in my opinion that cater perfectly to the V8 Supercar crowd of which there are hundreds of thousands which makes for good business i guess ...

... pity that the die hard supporters of V8 Supercars who would mortgage their house on the back of their beloved race series & car manufacturer to own a Clubsport or Boss dont realise or wont believe that the cars zooming around Mount Panorama arent Holdens or Fords but $800,000 purpose built race cars that "look" like Commodores & Falcons & they even share a lot of identical parts from Hollinger gearboxes to spool diffs to Alcon ferrous brakes ... Bathurst was so much better when there were all sorts of car makes in the field ...those were the days there was something special about the event ...

... ive had my Skyline for 10 years now & i still "get that smile" every time i drive it & still sometimes sneak out in it by myself for a mid week nightime spurt up to Gosford or down to Wollongong just for something to do ... i cant imagine ever selling it ...

... i think Ravi summed it perfectly when he said Skylines arent about logic & sense theyre more about emotion & desire ...

... cheers malcolm :)

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
