Hey i just bought a 32 gtr havent even picked it up from the importer yet. am i right in believing the gtrs have two blow off valves and if so Im looking at getting a dual port will i need two? P.s no backyard jobs i wanna do it right. thanks

Yeah right.

Don't come back and post on here after you fit atmo BOVs while still running air flow meters and find your car is stalling when the throttle is closed (stopped at lights), black spark plugs, blowing lots of black smoke and running like crap.

IIm not sure if either of u know but dual ports are plumb back unless urn footsteps down which is gonna attract the cops blow off noise or not. and it shouldn't make any difference to running. it'll run slightly rich for a brief moment when it blows off which is y they're illegal they run rich cos the maf detects air going in. it still thinks that amount of air is in the system not discharged so adds fuel accordingly. definitely won't do anything at idle

I put a full gtr cooler/bov setup on my 32gtst, awesomely compact and complete solution.

With a stainless mesh pod filter, stainless intake pipe and the 2" bov return, it's almost as noisy as some aftermarket bov's.. but less offensive, nicer to drive with (still afm) and draws less attention.

Edit: oh and my setup is legal. The reason atmo bov's are ILLEGAL is not because they can make your car run a little rich when you lift off the gas (which will make your engine want to stall), they are illegal because EVERYTHING that goes in through your intake, MUST come out the exhaust via the cat.

Cars can run rich. the stoichiometric ratio is an ideal ratio not a definite rule and if Im wrong about both these things don't take your car to a mechanic cos they're training us wrong

Umm.. there is such a thing as TOO rich but hey, your theory obviously outweighs my real world experience :ermm:

yeah im a qualified mechanic i worked for Nissan. i never said there wasn't such a thing as too rich. i said the stoichiometric ratio was ideal meaning not too rich or lean. i mean Im sure atmo and dual port bovs were designed to mak your car run like shit and stall and blow smoke. Y else would u buy one

People buy them because they like rice.

They are not meant to be used with afm's and stock ecu's. Run a map sensor setup and tune for it, no worries.

I'm not a trained mechanic and I don't work for Nissan but like a lot of people on here who do a lot of the work themselves, I've been there and done a fair bit.. the "I'm a mechanic, I know everything" sort of attitude won't get you very far around here.

Would u rather i agree with what i believe is wrong? I never claimed to know everything. Im just claiming to know more on this particular subject. much like u are doing to me. lets agree to disagree. ill repost here once i have them installed and ill be more then happy to admit i was wrong if it so happens to be the case

As Ive said lots of times on here, I run an atmo HKS bov running 20psi and my tuner didnt have a problem and actually said it held fine and had no problems with tuning with it, I dont have stalling issues...

but thats on a rb25...

You claim you are a mechanic for Nissan, are unsure how many bov's are factory on a gtr. How hard is it to get the workshop manual out?

Put 6 bov's on. One per cylinder. Your car will sound fully sick, and get all the boys into your yard.

Owned 2 cars with atmo bov's and AFM's. Both with good tunes, and both popped on gear changes, fluctuated at idle as the guys above have said.

Yeah don't bother with changing the BOV's, the std ones do the job really well and you will find that a lot of pod filter setup's actually resonate the noise back through the intake.

I am running HKS pods and they amplify the BOV's as good as an atmo setup, only that they are legal and the more boost you run the different the pitch they give out.

Oh and you won't have any of the air flow issues that could arise from other setup's.

U ask for advice but argue when u Don't get the answer u want .

Questions like These have been asked many times on here

And alot of us are speaking from experience not just blowing smoke up ya .

At the end of the day mate if "u know" what u are doing then do it . Simple as that
