Dont't know if its been mentioned here before, but I heard a disappointing rumour on Monday that TEN is moving F1 off the HD One channel and moving it back to chl 10 :( It will still be live but I'm pi$$ed that it won't be in HD.

Apparently now the packers have a stake they are moving all sport off of one to make foxtel the place to be for HD sport broadcast

Not that most of us seem to watch the One broadcast now, but what I said above seemed to be confirmed last night :( Pretty sure I caught one of the One team mention that the next race will be on channel 10 not OneHD.

The hosts must be frustrated as well. I mean the amount of breaks and rubbish they have to present. The are car nuts as well and bet their hands are tied. Its such a crock that they dont just do a 3min intro and then go to BBC or Sky coverage for the WHOLE event, pre and post race as well as practice and quali sessions. But Channel 10 are failing in all ratings and cant help but think a clown is calling the shots over there

I actually like watching most of it on OneHD, as it is HD.

Have skynet running, but big screen f1 is better than small screen better coverage.

I loved the fact DRS didn't really work here this year. We had a good old fashioned fair dinkum race, and it was a corker. Pretty much proves we don't need the artificial DRS passing to make F1 good.

I think the smart money is on Hamilton winning the WDC this year, even with the competitive nature of 5 or 6 teams the fact is Mclaren appear to be consistently faster, assuming Rosberg doesn't steal the show again...

i think button will be the more consistent of the 2 mclaren drivers this year. if hamo does happen to get a good run, i think he will fold under the pressure. that is assuming he doesn't find someone to replace massa as his dodgem car buddy.

Don't see Niko being too much of a wdc threat. Honestly, webber will be more of a feature this year, this years tyres seem to suit him much more than his teammate

yeah webber is adapting better.

the groups CFO must be devastated

that's equiv of police fining me 5¢ and no points for running red lights

they probably just went and raided the ash tray of the transport truck to pay the fine.

Problem though - it wont be HD if it ends up on 10

God damn greedy media moguls, Australia ripped once again

    • Lets say I wanted to buy this, specifically for this purpose. How do I actually perform the function. Can I still buy a Consult-1? Am I about to be burned by the fact my car is a 2000 model Series 2 R34 and thus will be some stupid other system? Do I just need this -> https://obd2australia.com.au/product/nissan-consult-14-pin-to-usb-ddl-diagnostic-interface-with-ftdi-ft232r-chip/ And with what software?
    • That's probably OK. That's a face to face compression joint between two surfaces with the clamping load provided by those bolts. So.... it's unlikely that the bolts will end up feeling that load in shear, unless the clamping surfaces are not large enough, bolts not got enough tension on them, etc etc to prevent the two faces from moving wrt each other. Which... I would hope the designers have considered, seeing as it's probably one of the most important things the upright has to do apart from resist collapsing in its own right. But yes, it would definitely be worth asking them what their safety factor on that part of the design was. I tend to think that the casting, being a casting, is not necessarily the strongest bit of material in the world. It's about an inch square, and when you think about the loads that are being put into it, you have to wonder what safety factor the Nissan boys (and every other OEM engineer who has designed all the millions of other uprights that look essentially the same) used to account for defective casting, aging, severe impacts on the wheel, etc etc.
    • Those bolts would be orders of magnitude stronger that cast aluminium though.  And its mainly clamping force, not shear they are dealing with?
    • Except all that twisting force that is breaking a cast piece, appears to be going through 4 bolts in the picture Johnny posted of the BryPar one...
    • The smart approach is to use the gearbox loom from the manual car. Makes it a lot easier - just plugs into the switches on the box and plugs into the main loom up near the fusebox. Then you only need to deal with bypassing the inhibit switch. The other approach requires you to use the wiring diagram to identify those wires by colour and location, perhaps even indulging in a little multimeter action to trace them end to end to make sure, and then.... you will have the answers you need. The R34 wiring diagram is available on-line (no, I do not have a link to it myself - I would have to do a search if I wasn't able to go to the copy I have at home).
