Heres some interesting news:

Vettel to Ferrari in 2014 apparently

Kimi to Red bull in 2014? Kimi has gone alot of his Career with Red Bull sponsership etc and there will probably be 2 open seats there........

Discuss, where the hell is everyone going :P

Kobi is great, He is a goo, aggressive overtaker. Generally a tough and generally fair racer with turns of speed. Perez is a great talent, but looking at Buttons years of being lost in cars and setup. His performance in the Brawn after the first 8 races and more recently in the McLaren it doesn't fill you with confidence that he can properly convey to engineers and designers what he wants the car to be doing. He knows all too well what he doesnt like about it when lapping...but I agree the two of them look to be compounding each others weaknesses and in a year where status quo is going to be simimilar and the bottom teams continue to find the fractiosn of time that the big teams found 12 months ago...its will be easy to see Macca no. 3-5 in the constructors.

I was shocked last night to see that Ferrari have overtaken them for 2nd in the WCC. Its a joke that with the car McLaren have had and Massa's absenteeism for most of the year that they are 3rd.

Of the driver movement left the only one that is of interest to me is Williams line up. I cant see them giving Bottas the leg up...they have too much pace at the moment not to have a more experienced punter in the seat. I think Jaimie or Hulk are a chance.

Yeah you are right Perez & Button look to be too similar or atleast share the same lack of pace in qualifying. Doesnt bode well.

Thought the Hulk was going to Sauber?

Williams will need coin irrespective of who drives for them. So Pasta & A N Other. Guessing it will be Botox if Senna doesnt find something magical in qualifying real soon. their share price went up off the back of their win, wonder where it is now?

vettel, i really don't think so...

kimi, maybe.

Felipe Massa will be granted a stay of execution at Ferrari as the Italian stable is set to retain him as they have to wait until 2014 for Sebastian Vettel.

It's been said before and no doubt it will be said again and again but this time it's coming from 'sources inside Ferrari' - and just hours after the German grabbed the lead in the Drivers' Championship.

According to a fresh report on the BBC on Monday morning, 'sources inside Ferrari say they have signed a contract with Vettel, 25, with an option to join in 2014 depending on their results.'

The report added that the 'contract is likely to define a position Ferrari must occupy in the title race at a point in 2013.'

However, it's not just Ferrari's position in the standings that counts for something as there is also Fernando Alonso's thoughts to consider.

That Spaniard, though, has 'sanctioned' Vettel's arrival having reportedly 'vetoed the idea of Lewis Hamilton joining the team earlier this year.'

And all this is great news for Massa as it means the Brazilian, who claimed his first podium of the season in Japan two weeks ago, will secure another season with Ferrari.

"If I want to anticipate the next question that I'm sure someone will ask, very soon you will know what will be our position in that respect," said team boss Stefano Domenicali in Korea on Sunday as he pre-empted questions about Massa's future.

"For sure he's understanding now better the car, he's understanding better the tyres.

"We believe that he's a very, very strong driver, there's no doubt, because otherwise we would already have taken a different decision."

The Vettel to Ferrari is BS. Vettel is all about the stats and come end of 2013 he isnt going to leave the team that has won 3, perhaps 4 out of 4 of the last WCCs and given him at least 2 WDCs, perhaps 3. His best bet to beat all the records he is so concerned about it to drive for the strongest team. Smart money is on RBR again next year....and sure engine is a change up but with new fresh rules RBR will be a good team as long as they have funding and Newey and others around him

The inside Ferrari F1 team contact is no different to the BMW mechanic i spoke with years ago after he first signed with RBR. The guy winked and said we have an option and when its right for us we will bring him back to partner Kubica. So much for that scoop.

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has denied signing Sebastian Vettel, saying that would only create "instability" within the team.

Fresh reports emerged on Monday in which a 'source inside Ferrari' told the BBC that Vettel is expected to head to the Italian stable in 2014.

'Sources inside Ferrari say they have signed a contract with Vettel, 25, with an option to join in 2014 depending on their results,' reported the Beeb, who added that the German's arrival had been 'sanctioned' by Fernando Alonso.

However, di Montezemolo was quick to deny the claims, insisting that two very strong drivers at Ferrari would cause more harm than good.

"I've always said that I don't want two roosters in the hen-house," the Ferrari president told Italian radio station, RAI.

"I don't like that and it creates instability in the team."

But while Vettel is out, it appears as if Felipe Massa, whose form as improved of late resulting in a top-three finish in Japan, is in.

Asked about the Brazilian's future, di Montezemolo revealed that he would talk with Massa at length on Tuesday "and then we'll make a decision."

Seb would be insane to move to the red team

Redbull has it better in every way over ferrari, they haven't produced a decent car since the testing restrictions came in. Once forced to play fair, they clearly lack something within the team structure

The only way Vettel is going to be dislodged is when the new engines come in and somebody creates a monster. That will draw talent in the short term at least

    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
