To much electronics and technology for their own good, when its all new and shiny its awesome, but throw 20 yrs at them and it becomes a nightmare for the average Joe to deal with, and everyone boosting and tracking them don't help either, they have had a good 20 yrs, as with all newer post 80s cars, they are not made to last.

If you had to have one that Red GTR would be good because if you rebuilt one it would easily cost that much and more to rebuild one.

And if my lotto numbers come up like they are meant to I'll buy that red one soon, LOL.

Anyone know what the manufacturer thought the life expediency on these modern cars would be.

just keep looking, good examples are still out there, but it will take longer to find it :)

took me over 6 months to find mine, compression test came back at 160psi across each cylinder, only had a cat back and weds wheels, still had standard clutch, no rips or tears in interior.

almost 2 years later and now at 296kw@ wheels, no mechanical problems what so-ever !

but when it comes to maintance and servicing i only use the very best

keep looking mate shes out there, just take your time :)

Thanks mate....... You have restored some hope for me.

Bob.

and avoid mr lee's like the plague... i know wayyyyyyyy too many bad things to even look there..

I bought my 34 from TSI and they have gone above and beyond good customer service to keep me happy, not one but 3 times.. and im sure if you said to them what you want they could find it either here or japan..

not out to plug them (much hehe) but if i were to buy dealer again i would go there

Just got my R32 GTR from Ed Lees, no issues... clean GTR cheap as...

Easy, smooth process

EDIT:

The 1000 is assurance that you are actually in the market to get the car, not to walk in ask for a GTR to import (or any other car) and then no show... and really 1K is nothing...

They showed me the Dark Grey and Silver cars.... The Silver one was going top Perth. Is the Grey one yours or did you buy another one?

Cheers,

Bob.

Yeah just picked up the pewter one...

As others have said they are out there, If i were to get another I wouldn't bother looking locally through private and dealerships....did that and wasted most of my time.

Find a trustworthy importer and go from there.....with 32R's having a decent budget is one thing but patience is another

To add to this, GTRs are getting harder to find in Japan, they are nearing the end to find a clean GTR, im sure we are nearing the year when we will no longer be able to import the classic Godzilla, somebody correct me if i'm wrong?

There were a couple I looked at that were showroom GTR32s looking at 40-50K for a legit Sub 40000KM classic - a bit out of my range - and more for the collector than a daily...

Hey mate,

I have also been looking around for an r32 gtr myself and i have seen those two gtr's at Lansvale in person. The black one looked in absolute horrible condition when i saw it. The white gtr's price was way too dear. Both cars were actually from Japstyle which closed down, but while it was closing down the prices was much lower. I had Gav from scotia talk to the owner of japstyle (think his name was ken) about pricing of the white one and over the phone he mentioned $18k, 2 weeks later i saw it at OC Automotive for $25k...

Nah i couldn't find that out, but that black gtr at Scotia looks very suspicious. The odo reads 58,000km but the car itself does not reflect that, it looks like it has done triple that

And some!

Hey mate,

I'm thinking of selling my GTR. Bought it off an Old guy who owned it for about 8 years in australia. Very clean honest car with most of the paint original. PM me if your interested.

These old 32R's are becoming almost ridiculously expensive. It's a real shame.

I spent most of this year looking for the perfect one and 2 months ago I thought I'd found it. I bought an 89 model that had had a complete resto done. New paint, new interior and a rebuilt engine with quality parts. Flew from Canberra to Melbourne to go check it out. Had it gone over with a fine tooth comb and everything came back sweet so I ended up driving it back to Canberra with a proud feeling of gtr ownership. Unfortunately the next day (less than 36 hours of ownership) it decided to spin a bearing. At first it was very discouraging as you can imagine. The engine is out and completely stripped and the things we found inside were borderline horrorfying. Extremely shotty workmanship and so many corners cut during the rebuild.

Learn from my mistake if buying one that's had a rebuild. It's safe to say I will never be dealing with the shop that did it.

On the plus side in a few months I'll begin the process of a rebuild built by the shop I want to do it and knowing exactly what parts go into it.

By the time it's back on the road I will have spent close to 50k I reckon which definitely makes me wish I had bought a 34 R. But I love the 32 and always will over the 34.

It's pretty much inevitable these days that if you buy a 32R it will end up putting an extremely big hole in your wallet.

Have to keep anything that could possibly go wrong in mind bcoz with their age something will almost certainly go wrong.

If you're as crazy as I am then I say go for it. But if you're set on a 32 buy a shell Nd build the engine yourself

  • 1 month later...

im in the market for another r32 gtr with similar price range

anything out there? its hard to find a good clean one these days :(

Here are the ones that I like but a couple seem to be a bit out of my price range.

Interestingly enough, the NSW market seems to be drying up as there have consistantly been 18-22 cars for sale. At the moment it's down to 15 and shrinking.

I like the blue one in a suburb of Wollongong.

Good luck and let us know if any take your fancy.....

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
