I thought this thread was gonna die before the second page but hey, as a bandwagoner, I can't help myself...

To answer OP's initial question... Obviously, no-one knows but, at the rate you are going, you might be able to answer that question for everybody... simply disregard the fact that the police are just looking for these type of cars so that they can justify their very existence within "the force" on a daily basis. Continue to drive your car as it sits then come back and tell us all what happens "if you get red stickered more than three times"..

I reckon the only reason no-one knows the answer is because, by the time they get their SECOND sticker... they have learnt their lesson and rectify the car so it complies with road rules.

Good luck out there!

So having a car that is "jdm spec" makes u a hoon? You cant be serious? STFU and GTFO while ur at it.

You seem excessively angry. Chill...

And yes, this car is what our today|today society brand's as a "hoon's car".

If the shoe fits....

Nah I just dont like keyboard warriors who act all high and mighty and start prancing around like their wannabe hwp. Its fair enough to have an oppinion but to just be a smart ass is annoying, especially when as the title of the thread states, all he wants is to know what penalties/dramas/etc occur if he was to get a third red sticker. And if aca has u believing that well it goes to show how strong an influence that fictional program has if it makes an car enthuasiast believe he/she must be a hoon due to the way their car has been aesthetically modified. Correct me if im wrong but I was under the impression 'hoon' was a label used to describe irresponsible and dangerous manners of driving a vehicle on public roads??

Best post on this thread

this thread makes me laugh.

Its funny that the more long term members here, dare I say, slightly more mature too (not saying op isnt or is etc) but majorty of us never have an issue with the law, police, whinge etc how bad it is. why is that? perhaps respect?

and if we have? we have learnt our lesson then and there.

oh, and feel free to have a go at me for replying here - Im just stating what I see. Feel free to label me a hater and tell me STFU too. Just saying how I see it in here.

As Marssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss said - totally agree.

... i agree with chris (evil_weevil) ... :) ...

... i am amazed every time this comes up ... defects arent handed out to people just to piss them off & give them an excuse to say "see the police are out to get me" ... no you morons ... you are giving the defect to yourselves ... all the police are doing is pointing out that youve defected your own car by doing whatever it is to defect it ... every country has "standards" for design & safety & engineering ... if you get a defect it because you deserve it ... its pretty simple to work out that if you dont mod your car up in a way that contradicts the "standards" you wont get a defect ... or i like to say this ... "if you dont want a defect placed on your car DONT place a decfect on your car" ... part of the conditions of your drivers licence & your registration being issued to you is that you comply with what is required "by law" around modding your car in an unconventioinal way ... if you get a moment check out my car in the garage ... its had every component modded in some way but its never had a defect because everything done to it is "legal" ... cheers malcolm :)

Cheers malcom..

Dunno if you read above I no why I'm getting defected the question was what happens if you get done 3 times?? If you don't no thats ok but I've read multiple posts that tell me why I'm getting done and there stories of "if they were a cop" all I wanted was to see if anyone knew what happens not the 20 others stories thanks

Cheers malcom..

... i guess my question & answer to all of this is ... forget what happens when you get defected for a third time ... concentrate very hard on not ever getting defected a first time ! ... :) ...

Thought I'd do the good Samaritan:

I called up the RTA and had a chat to them out of curiosity about this; the person I spoke to had a big pause and asked me why, but anyway, the gist they gave me was that the process is still the same. They didn't think there were other penalties involved, but that the police might not look too favourably upon seeing the car in a defectable state after 3 red stickers.

Thankyou mate, I should of maybe rang up and asked before I posted this thread and started alot of bicaring

HTH

Hmm, also, remember to take everything you hear from the RTA with a grain (or a large shaker) of salt - you might ring there three times and ask the same question and get three different answers. If you do speak to someone, ask for their name and write it down, as well as the time you spoke to them and what you were told.

I'm pretty sure the question's been answered, and if not, then the best bet is to call them yourself (but don't forget what I just mentioned).

Alright, to save any further issues, this thread is now closed.

    • Stock ECU (or more accurately stock tune) absolutely refuses to go over 10psi and behaves like you have seen. The Nistune is the same if it is the stock tune. If the Nistune chip has been tuned, the resulting tune could be literally anything for any combination of parts. The Nistune just makes the stock ECU Tunable.
    • So stock ECU does not like anything above 10 psi?  That Nistune one is just for "try" if it will be any different, I know it need to be tune for that. I know but YOU may know about these problem but i/we dont. They few little Skylines here let alone people who know anything about tham so that is why iam asking here
    • So now we have a radiator with no attachments whatsoever. It lifts up with a particularly tight spot between the drivers side air box mount and the lower radiator outlet, but if you've got this far you will sort that too. This is the lower mounts with the rad out so you can see where the rubber bushes go, it is a straight shot upwards Done! Assembly is the reverse of disassembly, with blood less likely to be shed.
    • Right, onto the second last trick. The Air Con condenser is mounted to the front of the radiator and stays in the car when the radiator is removed. There are 2x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the condenser to the radiator, remove those The bottom of the condenser is attached to the radiator with clips. You need to lift the condenser out of those clips and clear (up, then forward). f**ked if  could work out how to do that last bit with the front bumper on. I hope you can, and you share the trick.  Bumper removal probably deserves its own thread one day once I've recovered the will to live, but basically you need to remove the wheels, front inner guard liners (clips and 10mm headed bolts), the self tapper between the guard and the bumper at the rearmost point of the bumper (same as an R32 that bit), any remaining clips at the top/front of the grill, an absolute bastard design with a plate that holds the top of the bumper above the headlight each side (only 1 bolt which is tricky to get to, but the plate catches 2 places on the bumper and must be removed....carefully!) and push clips between the bumper and guard under the headlight. If you've done all that you will be faced with wiring for the fog lights on both sides and in ADM Q50 RS at least, 4 nasty tight plugs on the driver's side for the ADAS stuff. So, the clips at the bottom look like this on drivers side (looking from the front) And on the passenger side (also from the front), you can see this one is already out Clearance on both of these are super tight; the condenser needs to move up but the upper rad support mount prevents that, and the radiator can't move down far because it is (rubber) mounted. Once you achieve the impossible and drop the condenser off those mounts so it does not stop the rad moving, you are good to go
    • OK, next the shroud needs to come off and there are a couple of tricks. Firstly, there is a loom from near the passenger side headlight to the fans, coolant temp sensor etc and there is no plug to undo.  In my case I was OK to leave the shroud on top of the engine so I just undid the passenger side fan plug and about 10 of the clips which gave enough free wire to put it aside. The fan plugs were super tight, the trick I used was a small falt screwdriver to push down on the release tab, then a larger flat screwdriver to lever the plug out of the fan unit....be careful with how much force you apply! If you need to remove the shroud altogether for some reason you will have to deal with all the plugs (tight) and clips (brittle)....good luck. I removed all of the clips and replaced them with cable ties that I will just cut next time. Also, in the Red Sport / 400R at least, the intake heat exchanger reservoir hose is bolted to the shroud in 2 places with 10mm headed bolts; so remove them (the hose stays in the car; no need to undo it at the t fittings down at the radiator lower mount. Once you've dealt with the HX hose and the wiring loom, there are 3x 10mm headed self tappers holding the top of the shroud to the radiator; remove those.   The shroud then lifts out of the bottom mounts where it sits on the radiator, up and onto the engine out of the way.
