What happened to the car, saw you guys dropping it on the transporter?

Looks at this stage to have done an oil pump. Not the best end to the day. Time will tell if i can get it up and running before sandown.

N1 pump?

I don't think the stocker pump is that common to fail is it?

I don't think the datto held me up actuallly. I arrived to find some rexy mid corner on a couple of laps.

One in particular where my 1st and 2nd sector where 0.8 overall up on the time I ended up with glare.gif

Oh also, anyone running ANY Advan tyre (AD07/AD08/AO48/AO50) please ask these guys to add Calder to the list.

If we show Yoki people are interested in a cup, then they will put effort into it.

Great footage guys, I was there in my poor little stock BMer on the day, but can't say no to the sound of an RB with external gate at full noise (Also have a VL Calais turbo with 250rwkw haha).

Heres some footage from my little bmer getting every last rev rung from it, 110kw at the fly when new, so shes a real power house. Hope I didn't hold any of you up!

See you at the next event

Managed a 1:20 out of her in the last lap, pretty happy for a stock old girl.

Similar.

Both use a full set of A1RM pads for me (before moving to a different setup now)

Love the sound of a bimmer na

Haha thanks man, she does sound good for what she is. Drop a 2.5LTR in there, cage and suspension and tyres and ready to go racing in the E30 race series in about 18 months is the goal.

See you all at sandown! Hopefully have some inters/semi's by then

Not sure what pump, standard maybe, as the whole car was (looked) standard when i got it.

I lost brakes halfway through decel for turn one and when i felt brake pedal go to the floor, i just grabbed the closest gear which was 2nd and unfortunatly buzzed the motor, then coming out of turn one i noticed a rattle and the oil pressure light on.

It turns out I have managed to pop a caliper seal during braking down into turn one, which set off this chain of events.

Hahaha

I tried the comp 9/2 pads this time. Heaps better braking and used less pad but also chewed 1.5mm off my rotors!!!

Gonna look at a bigger disc and go back to a1rm. Will be cheaper in the long run!

Yeh that is what I thought..didn't work for me.

Standard R33 Caliper with adapter and 324mm DBA5000, rotors lasted 15 or so track days, but the pads where down after one. Changed to HC+ for the last two pad sets on those rotors, got one more track day out of the HC+.

Now on this setup, 7-8 track days and the rotors are just at the end of their life after 3-4 pad sets.

I've put up my Winton times still to hear back on other tracks being added.

As for Calder, with it being my first time, wasn't aware of the bumps or spinning the rears going over the hillock

Got the hurry up to leave the pits when I came in from the last session - managed to take the Dorian home with me, posted back Monday.

Brakes held up but will now have to look at temp gauges as the old girl got hot, coolant boiled off + leak developed.

Failed to load youtube footage from dashware  , will need to read up on upload rules/recommendations now.

Wow, looks like you guys had a great day - yet again I couldn't make the 1st round, but hopefully I'll be there for Sandown - and my baby got some new shoes too, just waiting on suspension now.

What setup are you using now?

I have 32gtr brakes with rda/dba standard size slotted rotors rb74 pads and motul rbf600, the brakes overheated (for the first time ever) at Calder on the weekend, I'm keen to improve the performance from the current setup without blowing $$$, I reckon gtr brakes should be more than ample for the lowly s13, just about getting the right pad/disc combo with fresh fluid...

Highly recommend the a1rm material from qfm.

I'm running stock gts-t brakes with some front ducting and while it doesnt have the balls I want it does ok and handles the heat fine.

When u say gtr brakes is that 32 or 33/34? Cause the 33/34 are the bigger. That's what I'm changing too.

Seems it was youtube playing up:

As for brakes I moved up from std s14 caliper/rotor with club racer pads to r33 gtr setup, again with club racer pads. This seems to have cured my pad life issue!

Also Rhys....what can I say. Your run of luck continues, with what I think maybe a broken clutch pivot.

It was

A. Cold

B. Wet

C. Slippy

Then it dried out and was actually a heap of fun.

The datto looks menacing for sure.

Rexy ended up in the wall after the second session. Front impact, not looking too great.

Ant blazed the way with the fastest time of the day 1.02.78, impressive.

Yes the factory clutch finally died. I guess i should be happy i got 1 year of racing out of it! In with the heavy duty...

Ok did everyone have a greater top speed than me!

Lap looks good. I can see more tyre helping for sure.

I'm still not sure about a 255 on a 8.5, too much buldge.

Yeh, the 33 is a bit weighty. But for 1400bux with pads the ksport 330mm 8 pots were too good a deal. Don't have a second thought about pressing the pedal at all.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
