Body just a bit off on the breathing/hold timing and bingo it's lights out. On top of getting light headed , I used to get an occasional blood nose when I was doing heavy stuff back in the day but, apparently it's normal. Or at least I was told it's ok?

A mate of mine likes to do sumo; has recommended it often to me. He says it feels more autonomous to him; he doesn't have to think about his technique as much to do the lift correctly/safely. Still doesn't lift as much as me though :P

Well I gave Sumo a shot today to see if it pisses off my lower back like regular deadlifts always manage to...nope, absolutely no pain at all. It removes a lot of load from the lower back and send to hand it off to your legs lol. Managed to do better today than the last time I did regular deads.

Will definitely be doing Sumo deadlifts from now on, though I'll still get to sorting out WTF is wrong with my regular deadlift.

Its strange how many think sumos are easier than conventional.

The biggest deadlifts in history are all conventional

Benedikt Magnusson, Andy Bolton both over 1000lbs, Konstantinov, Koklyaev over 900lbs, even here in Oz Odell Manuel 400kg, George McLaren 375kg.

There is no doubt though that some are more suited to sumo. Here in the gym we have 2 guys pull 300kg conventional, Martin should be next and he has switched to sumo, Dan has 290kg conventional and Roger has pulled 300kg but not in a comp, he too is conventional

Wasn't Martins choice. His deadlift had stalled and Max decided to try sumo. Max also noticed that Martin had stopped front squatting.

Up until Nats, Martin trained himself, he went into Nats with the 2nd highest total at PTC, came out with the 7th highest, all those in front had been trained by Max, so he asked Max to train him.

His results will be skewed by the fact he has added bodyweight, so were not going to sit here and make outlandish claims BUT he went into Nats with a 685kg total and went 687.5kg in the same weight class.

First thing Max did was to get Martin front squatting again and to have a program for him. I think Martin will go close to 730kg at ProRawFive.

The reason Max switched his deadlift was to take advantage of his levers, Marty has long arms

He is currently the only PTC lifter doing Sumo

    • Yeah in that case, pulling the dent out. Event a very slight dent can create a lot of work filler-wise and there is a strong chance the panel won't be the factory shape when you are done (as the dent will result in a new high point created somewhere, then everything is brought up to that new high point... but the panel shouldn't be that high if that makes sense).  So you've filled and primed the panel and it is flat, why would you go back and remove the primer and add more filler?
    • Something else I have been faffing with while the car was off the road is making the AC work. Assuming the car isn't at a thermal limit the idea of having AC while waiting in line to go on track sounds delightful. I have actually been lugging around the weight of the entire system since 2018 when the RB25NEO went in without it working at all.  The main reason was in the first few events before I got around to re-gassing it the rubber hose that runs under the manifold had the factory heat wrap/sleeve fail resulting in this: ~2 years ago I purchased a complete used R32 AC line set but when I finally went to install it the line i needed was different where the expansion section is I found a local place that was able to replace the rubber section and re-crimp. They also added some modern heat sleeve to the hose Tight fit but fingers crossed this is the last physical piece of the puzzle needed
    • the top black section is bonded to the silver section with some form of rubber. I assume to isolated NVH from the box
    • Plan B? Get someone to machine up a metal bush/collar/whatever it needs to be to replace the rubber? I haven't had a close look at that part recently to have a proper feel for whether that's possible. But it might be easy.
    • I do not want to install a short shifter and the only other stock throw shifter I have seen is the Nismo "Rigid shifter" for $290 So plan A is to fill it with sikaflex to stiffen it up and hope for the best
