dyl33
I've been looking into exhaust manifolds to hi-mount a hypergear or t67 kando seems 6boost are the best along with the other higher priced items Has anyone used the cheaper manifolds please tell me about ur experiance. ( I've read the internets for days. some work some break) Surly anything is better then the standard manifold. I've seen these advertised, What are your opinions on the below Just jap racing manifold http://justjap.com/s...&cat=274&page=1 Slide industries manifold http://www.ebay.com....=item3a74d06a31 Autobahn88 manifold http://www.ebay.com....1&_qi=RTM839190 Hybrid performance http://www.skylinesa...y-aug-specials/ the list goes on and on, If there is better ones please show me What should I do, Would like not to spend $1000+ on a manifold. But if all the cheapies are truely crap. I will just use standard factory manifold. If using the factory rb25det manifold is there any heat issues or any problems. When bolting on a larger turbine Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/409270-cheaper-turbo-manifolds-i-know-sigh/ Share on other sites
34GeeTeeTee
Pretty sure there is a thread in here on those NZ manifold etc.... May be of some use to you..... I went 6Boost as i wanted a reliable proven performer! Very happy with quality and excellent service! GeorgesR34
Read hypergear thread from 296 and on wards: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/261613-hypergear-hiflow-service-continued/page__st__5900 They've tested out the fully bored out and remade stock manifold against a $1300 steam pipe manifold plus manifold with external gate. Expansive manifold made a difference. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/409270-cheaper-turbo-manifolds-i-know-sigh/#findComment-6532540 Share on other sites
Hanaldo
Would be interesting to see tests vs something like the NZ Hybrid Performance manifolds... If I were going cheap, I'd probably go with Hybrid to be honest. Purely because of his thread on here, it's good to see a business willing to take criticism on board as well as posting developments. That said, when I get a high mount manifold, I won't be going cheap. The poor man pays twice. T.D
Hey mate, you're probably going to hear this alot and you'll probably hate it but you're better off saving and getting yourself either a 6boost or equivilant manifold. It's not so much about the power gains (if any, as some may argue) but whether the manifold will hold up and resist cracking/fracturing. The cost of buying a cheaper manifold and having it crack, and then the cost of labour to remove and either fix or purchase a new one, will outweigh the cost of getting a slightly more expensive one in the first place. True that the cheaper one may be equal quality against a more expensive item, it's kind of a hit-and-miss sort of deal. I run a 6Boost high-mount manifold and cannot fault it, so that's what I would reccommend Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/409270-cheaper-turbo-manifolds-i-know-sigh/#findComment-6532585 Share on other sites

Moodles2
The autobahn88 gear is nasty chinese stuff, most of the time i've read people have had to modify them to make them fit, like making the surfaces dead flat Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/409270-cheaper-turbo-manifolds-i-know-sigh/#findComment-6532609 Share on other sites
The Dan
They are all pretty much rubbish. They will crack and warp and you'll be paying to have it removed and fixed in less than a year. Get a CRG, 6Boost or ETM manifold. We use CRG for our manifolds and they are only $1100 or $1150 with EGT ports. Same quality as the 6boost manifolds and cnc machined collector as well. dyl33
Alrighty then I wont be wasteing my money. I'll just wait and get a 6boost in the future. untill then hypergear on standard manifold Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/409270-cheaper-turbo-manifolds-i-know-sigh/#findComment-6532657 Share on other sites

The Dan
Does CRG have a website? No he used to but was getting smashed with work so he deals direct through us and a couple of other places mostly. my google searches come up with nothing at all CRG Manifolds - 0420 613 662 I would avoid calling him over the weekend as it's his birthday and he may or may not have groovy ladies all up in his biz right now. That is unconfirmed though. Everyone is welcome to send him an sms wishing him happy birthday though. He will appreciate the thought Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/409270-cheaper-turbo-manifolds-i-know-sigh/#findComment-6533201 Share on other sites
RDIRTY4
I've got a T67 Kando on a hybrid performance exhaust manifold. Good combo! Exhaust mani was a tad difficult to tighten bolts.... Other than that, i'm very happy! Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/409270-cheaper-turbo-manifolds-i-know-sigh/#findComment-6533721 Share on other sites
hypergear
Check Brae auto fabrications manifolds. I'm using one and it performed well on couple of different turbochargers. also check drifthovc (Abe2) he's got a steam pipe manifold made with merged collectors for $600. bluey33
Hypergear... I saw you are a selling a hks cast manifold. Any chance of fitting a kando t67 on it or your ATR43-g3? I got a hks cast manifold off a mate but thinking of selling to run a brae manifold due to what I have heard about them. Running rb25 in 180sx. hypergear
Yes the G3, SS1PU or SS2 sits on in the HKS manifold fine. Its pretty hard to install if you are trying to do it with engine in the chassis. Also very tight clearance between the turbo to engine mount and drain port. The Brae manifold can be either high , low or side mount to stock position, I would prefer the side mount as they makes the power fine and nothing else needs to be changed. bluey33
Engine is out as I'm painting car ATM. I have heard of some turbos on the hks manifold causing people to trim the engine mount. If i was to run a G3 or similar turbo would the gains be worth the price of a brae manifold taking in mind I have the hks manifold and got it for virtually nothing or do you think sell and upgrade? Cheers. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/409270-cheaper-turbo-manifolds-i-know-sigh/#findComment-6534144 Share on other sites
hypergear
Yes if you run a 4inch intake you will need to trim the engine mount. But I can machine the comp housing down to 3inch instead of 4. How ever it is still recommended to trim the engine mount and run a 4inch induction pipe. Since the engine is out, installation would be easy. I would just use the HKS manifold. I'm sure the end result would be similar or better to other aftermarket manifolds.
