does anyone know roughly how much it will be for insurance (3rd party i think) for an r33? red P plates.. im on my L's and getting them soon and wondering

Depends upon a variety of factors.

Some of the insurance websites like NRMA allow for online quotes.

I'd expect around 3-4k for a Red P-Plater with an R33 Skyline GTS25.

Very expensive unfortunately.

EDIT: Just read that you said 3rd party insurance, allow for 1-2k.

Insurance councils website, search for phone numbers and call companies or go online.

Hey buddy, I'm a Second year green P plater with no insurance claims or loss of licence,

I Pay $94 dollers a month for third party with NRMA, I also have 2 Years roadside assistance membership and Do my Greenslip with them.

I Use to pay $185 per month with JUST CARS for full comprehensiveI, don't see the point now on a car only worth 8k.

Comprehensive for my R34 would have costed me $6.5k with NRMA for 21 y/o and fresh red Ps. Excess would be $2400.

Cars regoed under my dad as well as insurance which ended up to cost $1.4k. I say rego under your dads name or someone who would do it for you, who is over the age of 25 and have had 5 years on their license with no previous accidents.

Recently got into an accident and I'm gutted for $2.4k (still in process to prove that its not my fault).

Most companies wotn let you rego an import under someone elses name, and if they do, They WILL base the premuim on the highest risk IE the youngest driver.

full comp for me in R33 red p at 19yr old was about 2.7k wil a 3000 excess, Fully garaged in a decent area.

this, be truthful, pay more at the start, end up saving down the track.

As a matter of fact, I recently got into an accident and a claim has just been lodged and pending. I'm covered as a non-frequent driver or whatever they call it.

By no means am I saying I'll be reporting anything; it's just that some companies take a more stringent approach than others.

I've heard stories in the past of someone my mum works with - her son drove her car (fairly new Corolla) a few times a week, and when there was a prang, the insurer (GIO) went around the neighbourhood asking how often he drove the car, as he was on there as a very limited use driver.

I'm not saying all insurers are like that - it's just something I've heard. And being a Skyline, I'm sure if they were into that kind of thing, they'd be more likely to do it.

Insurers have been known to recover payouts they've made after finding things written on websites, such as the above.

I've heard of one insurer having had paid out an accident that had occured on a racetrack, they were told it happened on the road. Owner bragged of "beating the system" he was quickly taken to court, and all money recovered.

Insurance companies aren't stoopid. Do the right thing and insure it under your name or if someone else has a financual interest in it (ie parent) then at least have yourself listed as a nominated driver.

True, and then the young'un might (but not always) get a step up to a better no claim bonus when they take on responsibility with their own stand-alone policy.

The only (and personal) hitch is, what does the parent say when the insurer asks, "Now how often will the nominated driver be driving this vehicle?"

Of course we tell the truth don't we? Or the 'truth'?

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
