Rb2630 Into R34 Gtt

Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction, have been searching for definitive answers but no luck!

I have an rb2630 long engine together and I am trying to do as much of the labour myself to save coin, so right now I am trying to get all my ducks in a row before I proceed any further as don't want to purchase items I do not need or go about it all the wrong way.

I guess firstly and foremost, what are the chances of this motor change being passed in QLD going into an R34 GTT?

  • Balancer - Should I keep with a 25 balancer to make use of all the neo parts? (alternator/power steering etc)
  • Motor Loom - What would be the best way of wiring this motor in the car (r34gtr harness/loom? or modify the neo one to suit?)
  • Motor Sensors - Do these items have to match the engine loom/ or ecu being used?
  • I read the 34 gtr ecu is a no go, do I need to swap out the ecu to an earlier gtr one or will the neo just work?
  • Anyone know what year a 05u 2 gtr head is from, raw brokerage have new CAS's for 32/33gtr and good pricing, I read the 34gtr was different to the previous years.

I have been in touch with some specialist wiring services on the net to make up new gtr looms if this is the best way to go (good prices too, but they not been willing to answer all my questions), but have since been advised that my abs/tcs would be hard to keep? Would this be easy to rewire to suit or is this the big decider to modify the neo loom?

I know, a lot of questions here, but want to make sure I go the best direction forward, even if painful since I have committed to this now!

After reading for countless hours through the 'R33 Rb30 Conversion' thread, the sensors you use determine the loom/ecu you should use!

Okay the above makes perfect sense, best I go with an r33/34gtr loom/harness (will get a new one made up for piece of mind)

I still have to source all the sensors so will be looking for rb26 items and then source a 33gtr ecu/aftermarket item to suit (34gtr ecu is not really an option because of the builtin 'Nissan Anti Theft System' which will never run correctly - pitty this would have been ideal otherwise)

I can now go-ahead with the purchase of a new r33gtr CAS unit from 'raw-brokerage' for dirt cheap!

If I tackle the install myself I will definetly be writing up a full 'how-to' for 34gtt owners wanting to do this conversion.

Can anyone offer guideance on the below:

1. Can anyone offer guidance around keeping the TCS/ABS in the 34GTT when using the gtr ecu?

2. Should I stick with using the 25 balancer and ancillaries?

Why would you even bother converting it all to use a 26 head?

I used the neo head and the only down sides to the NEO head is that you don't have as large choice in cam's that you could possibly use, you cant directly bolt on twin turbo's and the 26 intake manifold. In most cases you will find that the Neo head is actually better then the 26 head.

If it was my car I would be selling the 26 head and replacing it with a neo head and saving your self a world of pain and money.

I hear ya guys, believe me for the past 5 days I have been re-thinking my options since trawling the net and seeing how much work will be involved in this swap out.

I may just sell off the project engine and start all over with a RIPs rb30 and re-co my current neo head with some goodies, cams I am not worried about, would prob go a new plenum on the 25 anyway with top feeds.

Maybe someone here will be interested in my rb3026 prepped block/reco'd head ready to go with complete intake/itb's and sensors.

Speaking from experience here..

I have a 2630 in my 34 gtt. I retain the entire 34gtt loom and use a piggyback ECU patched next to the stock Neo ecu as that used to run the tiptronic auto (car is now manual)

TPS mount was cut off the old throttle and spaces the TPS off the stock location on the 26 inlet manifold. The 'rod' that operates the TPS was redrilled to suit.

My neo coilpacks were used, I just made up some brackets to hold them in place in the 26 head.

I used 34gtr cams as the CAS drive is the same.

All neo ancillarys were used. I cut 1 mount down on the power steer bracket to suit the rb30 block. I retain everything including A/C. I used the Neo balancer.

Sensors were swapped over onto the 26 head, knock, oil press etc swapped onto rb30 block.

I used 880cc injectors and just clipped off one of the tabs so my plugs went straight on.

Idle control was done by the piggyback ecu. I just ran an AUX out to the stock 26 idle control motor.

The car ran fault free for 5 years making 500rwhp, then it spun a bearing at powercruise after oil temp got too high. Im currently rebuilding and ditching the stock loom and multiple ECU's and wiring in a Haltech PS2000 for simplicity.
