Hey guys getting a tune on my car soon and got recommended to put iridium plugs in it. Just wanting to know what you guys use what you think best option is and your opinions it an Rb25det with work I'm hoping to be pushing around the 400hp mark.

Iridiums are fine, they are just harder to gap down. Some say you will gain a little power from going copper but the trade off is you may need to change them every 10,000k's or so.

Iridiums can last 80-160,000k's if you keep them cool. They still melt if abused.

Iridiums will still lose some effency after 10-20,000 klm.

If you service your car every 5,000 klm put in fresh coppers every second service, on every other service pull the plugs and clean the electrodes with some fine emery paper and regap.

I have always done this and never had a problem even running 380 @ 22 psi.

Iridiums are designed for lazy people who do not service their own car, the less plug changes over the 100,000 saves some money but will effect performance.

I want all my killer wasps all the time.

The $30 or $40 dollars every 10,000 klm makes good performance sense to me.

I don't think we've talked about this topic enough so I'm going to disagree with all of you.

I know this topic has been done to death but if you find my method flawed please enlighten me as I am always open to opinions that may prove me wrong.

I may be old but Im still open to some learning.

A yes with a reason and I shall never be seen in this thread again.

A no with a reason and I still wont be here again because I have said what I believe to be correct due to many hours of searching and my own prior research on spark plugs and correct gap sizes.

There is a thread a week about spark plugs.

Answering the same question 50 times a year doesn't help anyone. It just adds to the problem. There was a thread only last week and it was answered quite well I thought.

And yes I was being sarcastic but I'm like that sometimes. The people that know me would usually laugh, those that don't might think I'm a prick. I don't mind.

I help the ones that I can help, I don't help the ones that don't help themselves by searching first.

To answer your first question, there is no flaw in your method. It's sound advice and I feel that the question was answered appropriately so I made a very clear sarcastic remark to make a point. I just didn't know I would be arrested for it :D

U ask stupid questions u get stupid answers like that. If u had not been soo lazy & used the search function, spent s little time reading u would have found ur answer. As stated by others, this topic has been done to death!

    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers    
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
    • Pull codes via the self-diagnosis procedure. As far as I can tell this is just a sign of transmission issues but not a code unto itself.
    • Hi All, putting the engine back together and everything is perfect except have this plug left over.. any ideas what it is for and where it goes? Is on cold side under the intake plenum *note not a stock plug, as everything has been modified Cheers
