Anyone know how I might attack these wheels...? It's strange. You can't actually feel the crap on the surface..

I almost want to sand it haha. But don't want to damage them

Speedy!!! Same brand as the SkyHatch Rims. ;)

Abrasives : Cutting compound, Toothpaste or Finer and finer Wet Sanding.

Acid: Lemon juice or Vinegar may be worth a try.

Sat in mine and procrastinated... Decided I didn't want to drill holes in it so I've ordered an additional bracket to mount the fire extinguisher.

Bout time I put one of those in!

Trimmed some of the rubber intake pipe where it had perished through and put a better hose clamp on it and wiped out the throttle body while I was there.

Tightened the rocker cover bolts slightly, wiped up a little oily dirt around it and tightened a few clamps around the place.

Attached the grill properly cause one of the clips was not sitting properly.

Applied a few cable ties here and there in the bay and cleaned the terminal for the Temp Gauge Sensor.

Pulled out the Back Seat, I didn't find any treasures but found there was an unopened Beer in with the Spare Wheel and $2.15 in coins under the passengers seat.

Found a remote for the stereo but the Stereo isn't working ATM and I need to find a Fuse Box Diagram as the lid is missing.

Adjusted the striker plates so the drivers side doors sit flush.

What's the best method? I've never tried the mild acids myself but I'm curious to have a go.

After umming and ahhing I decided to go straight for the wet sand because it was pretty bad.

I had previously tried soft steel wool but that wasn't good enough.

Soaking the wheel nuts in coke overnight meant I could just wipe all the corrosion away off of those ;)

I imagine if I had enough coke to do the wheels the same thing would happen.

Today I changed the Oil (Penrite), Filter and Fuel Filter.

Yesterday I chucked some Nulon Intake Cleaner thru and a bottle of Nulon Injector Cleaner.

Also Set the Timing to Factory Spec (100 BTDC), checked ECU for Fault Codes (had 3 which I think I caused by unplugging things) :rolleyes: but I'll reset and see.

and cause it's Easier than on an RB, I did a Compression test. All 4 near 120 psi. Not sure if this is Low but at least they are very similar.

Put a spare Relay in an empty socket and now the Thermo Fans work and I twiddled the Elecky plug for the Rear Window washer and it now works too.

Known things that will need fixing:

Rear Garnish needs some glue on one of the mounts.

Rear Demister wire has come away from the glass.

1 exhaust mani stud is gone.

1 or both driveshafts are noisey (CV joints).

Front engine mount is broken.

Door locks will need replacing as they have had a screwdriver forced into them. :mad:

Needs a good degrease underneath too. (hopefully nothing too major oil leak wise). :unsure:

Nice work Rob, beats my effort ..... I installed a very nice K&N air filter :closedeyes: ... oh well, I tried!!

The shitty fuel from the other week seems to be almost out of its system.

Shit quality as was taken at like 10 at night but you get the idea.. If the sun was out today i'd get some decent shots as it's at work with me but alas it was not meant to be

Bracket for fire extinguisher is on board with driver so should arrive today.

I had another crazy idea, I might install my brand new door cards on the weekend. Still in boxes and plastic from Nissan!

Well mine is out of the garage so if you do i think it will be a karma overload. Though the weather just says cloudy today.

Yep. I need to do some driving this weekend to use my fuel up, want fresh fuel for next weekend.

Will take some if I pull them out to put them in. They're all boxed and wrapped up. Brand new and perfect though.

Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
